I have a question, who is Alex Leapai?

Beating Haye who was WBA #1 would of made Fury mando just like Leapai.

Povetkin was last year and Pulev won't be called. Wlad and Bounter have descended so far into corruption he can fights by non boxing and is now making his voluntary's mandatory's.

 

It was October. Leapia will be April 26 and then if Pulev's next that would be probably around our before the next October. One year.

 

Well no. Povetkin still hadn't actually had his fight with Wlad at the time of Fury vs Haye's scheduled first fight. Povetkin was the mandatory at that stage.

 

One year doesn't carry over to the other.

 

The Fury Haye fight was scheduled for this month in 2014. Pov lost and Haye became #1 last year so Fury was fighting for the WBA mando position.

 

It wouldn't, because the WBA doesn't work like that. He would need to win the regular WBA title first and defend it before becoming Wladimir's mandatory. And the regular WBA belt wasn't on the line for Haye vs Fury.

 

That title has been done away with when Wlad beat Povetkin. How can a guy become WBA champ without out fighting the WBA champ?

 

The title is vacant and it's been said that Chagaev and Ortiz would fight for the vacant regular WBA title. In order to become the mandatory challenger for "super" WBA champion, you need to become the regular champion first and defend that belt. Maybe the winner of Haye-Fury would have become the challenger for the regular champion (whoever would become that), but not for the "super" champion. Also, the Haye-Fury fight wasn't an eliminator (to my knowledge) therefore even the mandatory spot for the next regular champ wasn't on the line either.

 

Leapai Boystov wasn't an elim either. It was a 10 rounder on some undercard and neither of them had a ranking under 25.

Beating Haye would of put Fury at the top of the WBA rankings and a hair away from a shot at Wlad.
It was also a much more high profile fight and would of made a fight with Wlad big business.
Fury was 100% right to chose Haye over Pulev.

 

Leapai looks like making towards $2M for this fight. Not bad money for a forklift driver from Logan, Queensland.

Leapai won't be looking to clinch. His only hope is knocking Wlads head off his shoulders and if he can't do it inside about 5 rounds he'll gas.
