I have a weird feeling that Roy is going to beat Calzaghe.

Agreed. It's going to have to be a KO, and that's not a likely scenario. Unless Joe does a Tony Tarver 'old overnight' job like Magic Man did with Dawson, I think it's going to be a long evening for Jones.

hes gonna have to hurt calzaghe early to get his respect. if he can hurt bad enough , then he can set the pace of the fight and maybe potshot his to a decision. if he cant, then forget it.

    Sounds about right. :good

Jones should be able to hit Calzaghe, and do so with some pop. It's going to be an interesting fight, I hope.

Calzaghe avoided nothing. The conventional wisdom was that, as he is clearly in decline himself, he needed to take the Pavlik fight as soon as possible.

It dawned on me several weeks ago, and was confirmed vividly on Saturday, that the convetional wisdom was wrong. Calzaghe did make a calculation along those lines, but his conclusion was different. In taking the Jones fight now he was, in his opinion, taking the harder fight first.

I think however, that he expected Pavlik to still be there for him after, I think he would have expected him to fight another Lockett-style defence at middleweight rather than embark on a kamikaze raid to LHW.

No matter though, but I think this has sealed Calzaghe's conviction that this will be his last fight now.

Gamblers Advisory didn't pick Quintana over Paul Williams in their first match...i did!!

I don't see Roy winning this...it is going to look just like the Glen Johnson fight...sorry, Roy fans!! :nono

Simple...punch output and effective aggression...Roy doesn't like it when fighters are in his grill!!

If Calzaghe shows Roy respect and doesn't dictate the pace, Roy could win...but I don't see that happening.

There's a BIG difference in the matchup here pal. Tarver was a puncher and made Roy aware that he can hurt him and was at his best when he fought Jones. Calslappy can't punch.

Roy Jones at any age is not Jeff Lacy. He's gonna have answers for slappy if he tries to "overwhelm" him. We'll see what Joe will do when he gets tagged with countering short hooks and uppercuts and put on his ass again:D

I realize that styles make fights, but what about the Johnson fight? Is everyone forgetting that fight actually took place? Johnson isn't the biggest puncher in the world...this is why Roy took this fight in the first place. He was overwhelmed with the agression and punch output from Glencoffe. Joe will do the exact same thing to him!!

Roy is stepping into the same s**t storm!!

You're right, he is no Jeff Lacy...Jeff punches harder at supermiddleweight. Joe has a granite chin and will not get hurt by Jones.

My guess is that Jones is underestimating Calzaghe because of the tough fight with B-hop...he is under the impression that Joe is a vulnerable fighter at this time.

He will find out on Nov 8th that he was wrong...he's not vulnerable, B-hop is just a very good and difficult fighter for anyone.

No I didn't forget the Johnson fight, but that was a weakened Jones still unhealthy from the drop from heavyweight. Plus Johnson is not a slapper so it's not quite the same s**t storm. Roy may have underestimated Glen, he's sure not doing that with Joe. Joe can't KO Roy, I can see Roy stopping Joe though.
