I have changed my mind, regarding Hatton

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by BremnerBomber, May 12, 2009.

  1. I'm a big fan and recently I have been calling for Hatton to retire after his devastating KO loss to Manny.

But in the last few days I have changed my mind, I still think there is still some very good winable fights out there for him.

The only thing I am worried about is if he still has a chin, but then again not everyone is as good as Manny.

A early KO loss is devastating but by no means career ending for a 30 year old fighter

I think if he were a 30 year old guy struggling to pay his bills fair enough, he might have the hunger to stage a good comeback. However he is a millionaire, without a trainer, now without a title. If he is smart as I think he is he will have one more and retire.

It's something that I'm still unsure about. Manny took what PBF left of his chin. The shots he took in those two fights can't be good internally. Every fighter out there with a decent trainer has the defensive/offensive blueprint to take him out again.

I don't want to see the guy sucking his meals through a straw, or even worse, sounding like Mayweather Sr.

    Agreed.

And the two men in your avatar show the difference between retiring at the right time and the wrong time.

He should retire while he has his money and his health still intact.

Fighting on would be a very stupid move. He needs to think of his mrs and his kid here and retire before he gets hurt for good.

  8. I understand what your saying, but he has only lost two fights and is still realativly young..... No one is telling JMM to retire at 37 and he has been in some wars and gets hit alot... I just think there is still a bit of fight left in this dog.

I pretty sure Hatton will have at least one more fight anyway.

The longer it goes on with him annoincing anything, the more likely he is to fight again.

Different types of fighters though. Hatton's swarming energetic pace was always going to burn bright and burn out long before someone like B-Hop or JMM. Even without considering the Pac and PBF fights.

I can't help thinking that he will want a 'homecoming' show for the MEN.

i'm not sure he can comeback on a world level, 2 Serious KO losses, if mayweather didnt take anything away from him that night pacquiao sure as hell did
i'm sure alot of contenders in that division are licking there lips at an opertunity to make a name off his Carcass

yes 30 years old, but in boxing terms hatton's much older due to his lifestyle and style in the ring, he's taken a lot of shots and doesn't need anymore

i still think he beats most at 140, but he's made his money, achieved the absalute max considering his limitations and lifestyle and should call it a day, injuries to hatton in the ring would be devestating not only for himself but boxing as well. his pride won't allow him to go out like that however and i can see him having at least one more fight

    He should quit for sure

From here on in it's just more punishment and more damage to his rep

I'm 100% convinced of that but of course he won't see it that way
