PacD I think you should look into getting some Gabriel "Flash" Elorde. I am currently watching him against Vincente Rivas and Teruo Kasaka. He is my favorite Filipino fighter and he doesn't get enough credit with everyone being so Pac-centric. He seems to be a great figure for your home islands.
Ok, so the clip is short- around three minutes. I'm checking it out now. Im a little thrown off because to my understanding he was a southpaw, but here he is fighting conventional.
Does thAt ESBn classic have that caveman Lee-John Locicero fight? Man I loved those ESB fights...my favorite guy was Tommy Cordova but you guys probably dont know who im talking about.
Thick set fighter, savy on the inside, but Im still perplexed by the southpaw stance. Brooklyn have you seen Pep vs Cadilli by any chance? Pep is brilliant, a lot more offensive than I have seen him, punching in combination, and counterpunching while showing willingness to engage Cadilli. Pep is a genious.
No, unfortunately. I'm actually making a list right now of fights I plan to ask him if he has. I'll definitely add Pep vs Cadilli. At the moment, I'm very interested in Napoles at 135, Cokes, Jung Koo Chang, Jiro Watanabe, Villa, Elorde, Jofre, and Beau Jack.
Do me a favor and add Gavilan vs Buker. Its a young Gavilan who shows it all in the fight. He doesn't have all the tricks he has in some of the later footage agianst the other fights I ordered, but he has youth and a lot of movement. I wasn't aware of Gavilan's versatility. At times he stays very contained behind his jab and stays economical. At timse he full out engages fighters (seems he tends to do this early rounds) and trades, and at other times he walks fighters down with smooth preasure and defense. Brilliant stuff.
I'm watching Mando Ramos vs. Sugar Ramos now. Its a part of a bonus DVD I wasn't aware I was getting.
Add Gavilan vs Buker? Will do These fights are fighters are history, true gems really. They layed the groundwork for future generations. It's amazing to see how some of the tricks and techniques they used influenced fighters today. Every hardcore boxing fan should take the time to watch classic fights and educate themselves on the past eras, especially with unknown guys who don't always get recognition.
I saw his fight with Saddler. He definitely was Good & skillful. But He doesn't dominate Like Pac. Pac is much more faster & powerful. Pac can easily beat Elorde if they meet at 130.
U referring to Hector Macho Camacho?! One of the old time greats! Hector Macho Camacho vs Boom Boom Mancini. None STop action!!! ..if my memory serves me right!
PacD I will tell you this- Pac would have beaten him IMO based on styles making fights, but I am also quite sure that Pac would have been KTFO'd by Saddler in the meantime. Elorde holds a win over him and fought a great second fight. Everyone looked bad against Saddler, its a terrible fighter to guage someone against.
