http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=12678&cat=boxer&pageID=2 You're wrong. This is elorde in his younger years. Saddler is the old one.
vs SANCHEZ @ 126: Saddler clear UD vs MAYWEATHER @ 130: Mayweather close UD vs ARGUELLO @ 130: I'll have to think more about it
Which is what I said. So again, while I appreciate your efforts, I do not need correcting. By saying "He" I was referring to Saddler, since you were showing me the fight of the fighter I specifically named and asked for. I then said that I didn't believe that Elorde, who I named specifically instead of calling him "he" so there would be no confusion, was not at his best weight and not in his prime. It is quite obvious that if I knew it was not Elorde's best weight, that I knew enough to know it was early on in his career.
For Saddler/Sanchez, I think Saddler's size, strength, and reach coupled with his straigher punching and ability to get fighters out of their rhythm would give him the edge. Wouldn't be surprised with a late stoppage either.
Saddler is suprisingly strong for his length. I imagine that he may have given Maweather a rough go at 130 and even 135.
Funny enough, because Brooklyn and I were discussing the Ring Magazine All-Time Dream Matchups from 2003 last night. Their Saddler fight is a fantasy matchup against Sanchez, who they see him beating by 14th round stoppage. The magazine also mentions the holes in Saddler's defense and the ability for speedy fighters like Elorde and Pep to exploit those holes. IMO Ring seems accurate in that assessment. That being said, I think Mayweather's speed would give him trouble, as would the lateral movement he utilized at 130lbs. I would favor Mayweather. Arguello's ability to beat Saddler in my eyes depends on his ability to control distance. If he could avoid the energy sapping clinches and utilize his accurate jab, I could see him winning a close decision I suppose. One other thing to note- 130lbs probably isn't the best weight for Saddler in fantasy matchups.
Bull****, there are so many far better and greater fighters than Pac it's not even funny. Even around his weight class, same applies even today for Christ's sake, as proved by his gifts against JMM.
Yes, it just seems he loses some of those advantages at 130lbs. I would be interested in hearing your opinion.
That fight's a very tough call for me. I'd think that due to Saddler's vulnerabilities on the outside to go with Sanchez's movement, defense, and counter-punching skills, he'd be able to outbox Saddler to a Decision. Then again, Pep couldn't even do that. Sanchez's power may make a difference though. Been watching a bit more Sanchez lately, I think I underrated him prior, due to watching fights were he showed weaknesses against lesser competition. Always was at his best against the best competition. His fights with Lopez are masterpieces. Saddler is like the Featherweight version of Williams though, in that anyone who came to him gets a beating, though they were different stylistically. I'd take Saddler to stop Armstrong.
I don't give a **** about that, I'm just getting fed up with your ridiculous bias for Pacquiao, claiming there have been no fighters over history as good as the limited Pacquiao. Load of ****ing bull****.
Fighting Harada is a beast. Where do you guys rate him in his genre of fighters. He is a nonstop punching machine. :blood
...........If by "genre" you mean Japanese, he's the best of the bunch I've seen. Fantastically enegetic, and tough as nails. I have many of his fights, and was shocked to see him stopped by Joe Medel the way he was. Medel was a huge puncher and just caught him. He returned the favor next time out, though.
Harada ranks #1 all time for me among Japanese fighters, which is saying a lot, considering how many underrated great fighters they have had. He's one of the most impressive swarmers I've seen on film as well.
