Yeah Cotto can call Mayweather a coward all he wants to but fact remains hes a guy who started at 130, while cotto at 140 and weighed atleast 10 pounds less than him on fight night yet still kicked his ass and had him wobbled in the 12th round, all without asking him for any kind of catchweight when he has the financial draw that he could have made cotto fight at 150 and Cotto would have still done it because the money would have been too good to pass up otherwise.

Everyone likes to talk **** about mayweather before they get into the ring with him, then when they do get in there they realize its not as easy as they thought it would be. ****ing guerrero's post fight arguement that mayweather wasnt that good was literally that "I was almost hitting him" GTFO, thats the point ******, when he slips your shots its not supposed to be overly dramatic, its supposed to be with finesse and the minimum amount of motion required so that he conserves energy for the end of the fight. That is why you are tired at the end and he is hitting you at will.

I think Pacquiao is the obvious one. Margarito is another that I'm sure he never wanted to face. I would bet my ****ing HOUSE that May would beat Maragarito. Problem is that May didn't want him knowing he was facing a big guy who was going to put pressure on him for 12 rounds, non stop, with a GREAT chin and who throws a **** load of punches. He was facing a machine, who eventually was going to lay some leather and I feel May just didn't want to face this type of rough style. Even though he would have won, he just would rather skip him. I mean, he wasn't going to hurt Maragarito. That ****er was like the Terminator, and was going to keep coming. I think he felt he was a threat to his health.

when people were buzzing about floyd - margarito and when margarito walked in on a floyd press conference the biggest scalp on margarito's resume was kermit cintron

since then, margarito has been cited for loaded gloves and lost 3 of his last 4 fights after that

i'd call in cowardly. By Boxing standards.

Yes he's fought very good fighters, but fighting fights where your a huge favourite which is what mayweather always does isn't brave.

If he'd take fights where he's an underdog, then i'd cll that brave.

Guys, he is going to fight Canelo, but he will fight Canelo at 147, and after the fight, Floyd's homeboys will say he's greater than Oscar De La Hoya even though he was too scared to fight at 154lbs and Canelo aint **** on someone like Fernando Vargas. (Backdrop of yesterdays thread).

Floyd is clearly not past his prime like we thought he was, so yes he must take the fight at 154lbs if he is to be considered great.

Vlad has ONLY 65,000 who are willing to PAY to watch him.

As good as Wladimir is, and he is an ATG, do you really think people will pay PPV for his fights unless he has a competitive opponents (ala Haye - on paper at least anyway)?

    I stream his fights.

the fight wont happen at 147 or 154
oscar has a great resume but his best wins aint so flattering, so floyd already trumps oscar easily

What's your take on Whitaker fighting the likes of Trinidad, Chavez, De La Hoya, Vasquez, Nelson, McGirt?

That still doesn't tell me that he wanted to face him. I'm not going to say more out of respect for May. Believe it or not, I actually do have some respect for him. I don't dislike him and he's an amazing boxer. To me it's more about the psychological part of him. I just always got the sense that he carried this natural fear, in which he tries to hide. You see in videos and his personality. All you need to use is a little psychology dawg. He's not that hard to figure out. just look at the video that they always post here, where he goes on a rant taking **** about PAcquiao and taking subliminal shots that he used PEDs. You think he sounded like a guy who wanted to fight him? Everybody has an opinion but to me, it was clear as day light that he never wanted the fight. I'm not even going to blame him if he doesn't fight Canelo. I understand that it isn't his weight class and it wasn't going to change my mind, even if he fought him. BUT, if he did fight him, I'd give him a lot of props, NOT because he's fighting a guy who I think will beat him but because he'll do something that I haven't seen from him in a long time.

i dont need to use psychology, "dawg", i fight for a living
i understand what you're saying about canelo, but people seem to track floyd from his gatti days - not his super feather origins

just because he didn't join the PPV circus until the gatti fight, and because people haven't followed (or respected) his achievements before then, it's not a a free ticket to line up opponents for him now just because there is no-one left for him to fight in his division

Whitaker fought in a different era. Whitaker was also a PURE boxer but the challenges he took speak for themselves. Ramirez and Mayweather weren't that easy either. In many of his fights, he was undersized. Only regret I have is that he didn't fight Chavez sooner. Lightweight for example. Fighting Trinidad at that stage of his career deserves automatic respect, even if you hated the guy.

Every day there's a new thread crying about Mayweather. Yet you will all tune into his next fight. He has boxing by the balls right now, love it or hate it.

His best work has been in the lower weight classes, I've always said it. But that alone wasn't going to make him the greatest, like some claim he is.

    i agree
but modern day boxing - especially with no global federation - will always be about $$ for the big players
