atsch All of his opponents mysteriously stop jabbing now? Never thought it could be because he negated it, made them pay every time they threw it. :hey
there's only one elite jabber who stopped throwing his jab against Floyd and that's a part time, past prime Oscar who hadn't fought in a year. And Floyd just edged him out. Great win? maybe if the standards are low
pac's been pushing himself at this weight and i believe it will take it's toll in his body if still hasn't yet. pac's not natural at this weight, admit it everyone. he's too small for this weight. even if he has performed well against the top welterweights, we all know he's pushing his body to the limit at this weight class.
It does not matter what punch it is, when you face floyd he will make you miss your best shot on a regular basis once he gets in his rhythm. Look at the weight drained oscar that pac man fought in all seriousness that was disgraceful, pac had to drag oscar all the way down. He looked like a 12 year old girl in their and many standard fighters woukld have clocked him cold, infact he was getting slaped up by valero and ivan calderon what does that tell you he was not in fighting condition. The question is how would pac have faired against that jmw oscar, someone who can jab, someone who hasnt been mullered with bricks and someone who doesnt block punches with their face. :good
It does matter what punch it is cause every punch comes from a different angle and styles make fights. And it's not that hard to make an old, part-time, inactive fighter miss his best punch. Pac dragged Oscar down from 150 to 147 while Oscar dragged Pac up from 135 to 147. At the time, Oscar was the disgraceful one. But I guess you stopped following the sport when Floyd announced his retirement. Today's version of Pac who would not be moving up after just 1 fight at lightweight would've whooped that version of Oscar's ass easily.
So this was your position BEFORE Pac fought ODLH? And Pac was nowhere near impressive on that fight, even in hindsight? Maybe you should watch even the highlights of that fight again and understand that it was not just ODLH who was in the ring that night.
Like i said he negates your best shot, whwether its your jab right hand or hook etc, you wouldnt understand that though, it must be because of the fighters arm got hurt or they old or they forgot how to throw the jab, cus floyd doesnt know how to make em miss. According to your stans pac has always been 147 and was draining himself down to 135, so come on make up your mind which one is it?:think Icing a 147 is skelotor de la hoya is not an acheivement, only by name recognition, theres amatuers who would have done a number on him in that condition so please do not go there, steve forbes was laying hands on him, ****ed up his face like no ones business at 150, with a ko percentage of less than 20% IIRC Only then is when roach and pac act like the vultures they are and pick up the pieces. I love pac too, he is a great fighter, but disappointed in his methods and practices.
What is their to find impressive in a deceiving welterweight slapping around a former welterweight who hadnt weighedin that low for 12 years. Majority of fans who know boxing could see at the weigh in and looking at oscars body that he had noting in the tank. Nothing
Floyd will always be remembered as a coward, unfortunately. He can keep thinking he's better than Ali and Robinson, but his cowardice has ruined his legacy and everyone will always remember him as that guy who avoided Pacquiao. Cotto, De La Hoya, Hatton, Marquez, Barrera, Mosley, ect at least all had the balls to face Pacquiao. When you keep saying you're the best at some time you have to prove it against the best.
all the wait is starting to get a little boring. if they both win their next fight, they should just sign to fight or people should just forget about the fight happening.
Not to take away from your point, but the way I remember it, Leonard retired because of the eye thing, not that he was waiting for Hagler to get old. Back then a detached retina was a very big deal and although his career was short, it was considered the prudent move at the time. Hagler had to give away plenty in the neg. to get Leonard back in the ring.
And? He went the full distance but still dominated his opponents. The Marg fight likely should have been stopped and Clottey just stood there blocking.
Yeah I overexaggerated but still Leonard didn't press for the fight until he saw the Mugabi-Hagler fight live. It took guts for Leonard to fight again and even stand toe to toe with Hagler at times regardless whether he was faded and also to go to war with Tommy in the rematch. Tough fighter SRL was yet many consider him a "prettyboy", he was dangerous especially with the fro.
I don't buy the "leg cramps" excuse much as it's an excuse. This is coming from the same man who thought he lost to Morales because he didn't have the right gloves.
