I didn't say he was a journeyman. That would be ridiculous. And he's more than a contender. He's undoubtedly world-class, but he has never beaten anybody of note bar that win over a past his best Judah. What's his next best win after that? Gutierrez?

He is capable of giving most at welterweight a tough fight, but he is a step below the elite. I think a pre-Margo version of Cotto beats Clottey more convincingly, and I think he's a shadow of his former self hence his demise at the hands of Pacquiao and the subsequent move up to 154, where he looks like he's being used as a stepping stone for Yuri Foreman now.

Pacquiao has all the advantages that count in this fight. Clottey has 1 stoppage win in 5 years, and Pacquiao showed he can take legitimate welterweight punches against Cotto anyway. Clottey isn't going to stop him, and he's going to get overwhelmed work-rate wise.

I expect Pacquiao to adopt the same approach as he did against Cotto. Take the first minute off, bounce around and use his superior foot speed to make it difficult for Clottey to catch him and then pile on the quick combinations in the last 2 minutes of the round to take it. Cotto couldn't deal with the speed of Pac or adapt to find a way past him, and I doubt very much Clottey does either. You will be surprised how much he gets hit with that high guard and he loses a lop-sided decision or gets pulled late.

I'm, glad Clottey is getting this shot... he's been in with the best welters and has eneded up coming a lil short with Marg and Cotto. Clottey could have gotten the nod on that cause it was that close, that Kd just gave it to Cotto.

Your boy is good but he'll fade in the stretch, as sure as his Ghanian ass loves soccer, he'll fade. He's got the talent, just not the heart to take it to that next level. I expect a great first 4 or 5 rounds with Pac taking over. 8th or 9th round tko to the little pinoy..

clottey is a good fighter but he never crossed that line into being great. and thats done by:
producing a victory from a thrilling and exciting FOTY candidate
    Dominating someone
    Beating a super star
    Dominating a divison etc etc

hatton may not be an excellent fighter or even better than clottey but he managed to do that ^. Also I only seen clottey fight twice loooool

If the Cotto fight was wnywhere but Madison Square Garden, he would have had the "W"

That idea of producing a thrilling victory makes you likeable and marketable. It doesn't make you great. There's a difference.

You're crazy if you think that Clottey's jab/headbutt combination will stop that man.

for no reason? the guy whines and cries as much as cintron during fights that he's losing and after fights he has lost. every fight he's lost has been because he ****ed up and he still pisses and moans (almost) worse than any other boxer. he's gonna get paid a million or so for this fight and i'm sure he's still going to complain like hell and be completely ungracious when he loses.
