The man is 26, he has already faced bigger opposition than Fury and Wilder, regretably he lost both of them. When you look at his interviews, he might seem little slow, he aint good trash talker, when upset he looks to Frank Warren like his daddy, and is constantly twichy, distracted, looking into the far lands. But he a legit contender. Usyk fight was controversial, he a champ and that shot was just below bellybutton and he acted like he was punched in the balls. But DDD messed that fight up by getting KO-ed in latter rounds, if it were to come to decision loss, he would be still at great position. Joyce fight was unlucky, eye injury, I dont think Joyce showed that much quality but it is what it is. There are very few real contenders left in heavyweight, Joshua and Wilder are princeses, Fury is a fake champion wasting everyones time. And everyone ist talking about them, some are talking about Usyk but not on that great of level. Usyk is like a sidenote. Can we see DDD attacking the belt again, and against who? WBO - Zhangs territory, he could attack Zhang if he were to beat Sanchez or Anderson, but can he dethrone Zhang in the future, assuming unified will vacate his belts. Problem with Zhang, he is old, he could be dethroned by another contedner when unified vacates, he cant choose he will have to fight one of the next - Joshua, Sanchez, Anderson, Makmudov Aswell, though IBF belt will be certantly vacated, if Fury were to win against Usyk, and in rematch, Zhang could have be left hanging for a year, intentionaly to fight Fury for his payday. There is a strong possiblity for Hrgovic to try to take away Zhangs belt in a rematch everyone would like to see, including me. IBF - Hrgovic/Joshua territory, if Joshua were to go WIlder route for WBC belt, Dubois would have to defeat again Sanchez and/or Makmudov to get close to this fight, but could challenge Hrgovic in time, if everything alligns for him. Hrgovic could be only champion who would have to call out contenders to fight him, also many would duck, even if it was the shot for the belt (Bakole I am looking at you). All DDD has to do is accept. WBC - no chance, reserved for Joshua and Wilder WBA - by beating Miller, he could challenge Charr for interim title again, but some time could pass for it to be called for mandatory defence for real belt, if unified champ vacate - Charr would have to fight as full champion against someone, but since WBA doesnt make any sense, )because Charr already got ordered defence against Miller, from which I dont know what happened) it will be probably at the one with strongest promotor, which is DDD, but Bakole might sue.
Dubois should not have gotten that title shot in the first place. Can’t blame Dubois though, every fighter would take that opportunity if offered to him. But it was a cherry pick by team Usyk to make him look good. That almost didn’t end well but that’s on Usyk. That was not a great performance by Usyk. Usyk got very lucky that bodyshot got ruled a low blow. Joyce showed Dubois level. With Miller no one really knows what level he is at right now either.
We will see how his mental looks like now in Miller fight. For me Dubois is not champion material but we can say that ppl like Charles Martin for example was even more. If he win tommorow and stay busy fighting right opposition he might have chance to become champion of one belts for short time. Its about taking good opportunity. But if he lose in bad fashion he became high class tester for better guys.
You cant compare Dubois to Delboy, delboy has a chin and a heart. Dubois is mentally not there. Even so i think he stops Miller because he can punch.
I just don't think DDD has what it takes on elite level. History shows that. Really, I don't need to explain it, as it is obvious. Some ppl can take pressure on world level, others can't.
Plus Miller just "converted" to Islam....another point in Dubois favor. In addition to drug busts. The guy is disgusting. I usually go for the American but I'd like to see Dubois knock the fat slob into Bolivian. Or Mecca, whichever is closed.
The belts will be scattered after Usyk and Fury have had their thing and Wilder is put out to pasture.... ...but I'd be really surprised if a fighter who gets stopped by a jab will be picking one of them up.
