I don't know that his toughness or dig will even come into play (not that I'm even co-signing that he's too inadequate on either count to not be run on roughshod by Froch) - he could probably just outbox him. :conf He might not last as long as Groves did going mano a mano, but he also wouldn't get roped into doing that as Groves did. He did have a bad habit of laying on the ropes earlier in his career but has been shedding that of late.
Do you really think James will be able to stop Froch trapping him, there was times in the fight when people started to think Andre Dirrell could stop him?
Dirrell is a lot quicker than Froch. If he wants to simply use movement to pot shot from a safe range all night, I don't see why DeGale couldn't pull it off. His stamina is much improved, and Froch, while adept in cutting off the ring, would be coming off a sizable layoff and is up there in years.
Much improved? Mate he done next to nothing for six whole rounds. Froch is super fit, super super tough and mega strong he will be in Degales face all night long.
You might be ignoring the fact that Froch hasn't fought at all since May 2014. If he fights Degale I would guess it wont be until about May 2016. He is 38 years old. He turns 39 next July. He struggled with Groves 2-3 years ago, and Groves was never much better than Degale anyway. Froch is a has been.
That may be true but until Degale shows me he can work hard for 12 rounds then I will never be putting money on him to beat Carl Froch mate
James, to me, is a fighter who comes alive on the big stage. I always thought he was all wrong for Carl. Hopefully we get to see it! James would hammer him, IMHO. He'd end up getting a ref stoppage late-on as Carl would be hitting thin-air after being busted up for 9/10 rounds.
You do remember this is the guy who has never been stopped? Did you see what GG did to him for six rounds and still survived?
Lets be clear a prime Froch smashes Degale........ However we aren't dealing with a prime Froch so it would be a close fight. Froch don't need this in his life, he is a legend with nothing to prove
Agreed but styles make fights as we all know. I really rate Degale and have him as the number two middleweight in the world behind Badou Jack at the moment (I think Degale beats Jack of course)
Not only is Froch not prime but we probably aren't even talking about Froch as good as he was in Groves II. Eighteen months out, and longer by whenever this would take place. Can't be scoffed at.
However one think i will say is heart is the last thing to go in a boxer and froch has bundles. Can we say the same for degale
