Agreed, it's been awhile since I was this pumped up for a Heavyweight title match. Even if Wlad blasts out Haye, at least this fight gave us fans something to look forward to if anything else. I feel Haye will probably lose, mostly based on his inexperience at heavyweight and suspect chin. That being said, Haye does have a better chance of winning than Wlads last 5 oppenents, who, other than Iggy, were laughable to say the least. Haye should be looking to disrupt Wlad early, if he doesn't Wlad will destroy him behind the jab, and when the right hand connects Haye's dreams of becoming champ will be over. If anything else, I hope Haye can hurt Wlad. Maybe floor him or put him into one of his famous panic attacks, that would at least give me something to smile about.
Man, I really do like Wlad and get excited for his fights. No lie. I also really like to watch David Haye, exciting and powerful to boot. BUT, as much as I like Wlad, it would be a serious REV up for the HW division if Haye were to win this thing. Not only because we would get to see Wlad come for redemption, but also Haye vs. Vitali. Now that's getting the HW"s HOT again. Good luck to Haye, he will need to fight the best fight of his entire career so far to pull this off. I honestly though, am not sure Haye can do it. When Wlad starts letting go of his Big Rights, anything flush, and Haye is prolly done.:yep
Punisher said: Haye does have a better chance of winning than Wlads last 5 oppenents, who, other than Iggy, were laughable to say the least. yea agreeed, his last 5 opponents had a combined record of 155 wins against only 11 losses. All their wins were against heavyweights. Haye has a total of 2 wins against heavies. Now that is really "laughable"!!!
Yeah, but who cares if there records or good or not, look who the hell they beat or even struggled to beat to get to that level. Look at Tye Fields he was what 40 something and 1 before he lost to barret this past year or even Brian Nielson who was 50 something 1 until he lost to Tyson in 01. Records dont matter, what matters is who you beat to get you to that position. Take Calvin Brock for instance, undefeated before facing Wlad, the guys best wins were over Zuri "Knockout Victim" Lawrence and barely beat Jamel McCline who almost had him knocked out in middle rounds. Iggy was undefeated as well, his best wins were over 46 yearold Evander Holyfield and Shannon "The Inhaler" Briggs who had the flu coming into that fight, and couldnt knockout either one. And also had a life and death match with Ray Austin just 2 years before fighting Wlad, where he was almost knocked out. Sam Peter, undefeated, best wins are debatable. I guess Yanqi Diaz because he knocked Juan Carlos Gomez out, but has done nothing since. I could breakdown the other oppenents he fought within the last couple years if you want, but I think you get the point.
yepp, i think that if haye lets wlad get his jab working then hes in trouble, he cant let him get in to a rythm, haye has got to impose himself early on and i hope to god hes done something with his head movement beacause he cant afford to eat too many punches from a guy that will dwarf him. i can definatly see this fight being somthing we will remember beacause it isnt just a fight between two heavy hitters with suspect chins (because lets face it wlads isnt brilliant either) its between two heavy hitters with suspect chins that dont like each other! so i think theres going to be a lot of knockdowns and a spectacular KO before round round 6, although heart says Haye my head says Wladimir not long now though! :bbb
Agreed, I see the same way. Thats just hope I'm wrong and it's Haye holding the titles at the end of the fight.:good
aye i hope michael buffer will be saying at the end of the fight "and new" rather than "still" ive heard them words all too often with the boring giants of the division :yep
Wlad is simply the far better boxer and ring general of the two combatants. Haye has a good punch; is young and aggressive but lacks size and heavyweight fight experience. Wlad has been brutalized by huge heavyweight fighters like the 6 foot 4inch southpaw Sanders and has learned his lesson. He will respect Haye's speed and power. His tactic will be to move laterally away from Haye's big right hand and jab, jab, jab. He will also clinch and ride Haye like a cowboy, pushing down on him and exhausting him until the ref breaks up the wrestling match. An increasingly exhausted Haye starts throwing looping punches and "the Steelhammer" unloads a powerful right cross or overhand right to end the contest with dispatch. Mr. Haye, "Good night sweet prince."
I just don't buy that Haye winning is good for anything. If I honestly thought he could be a dominant champ, or could unify, then I could see the upside to him winning. But the fact is he would then lose to the next Corrie Sanders or David Tua to come along. A David Haye win will only divide the division even further. If I am right that Haye could not go on to be a dominant champ - and if there is noone else who can step into that role - then a Haye win is just gonna make the division muddy as hell. Not exactlt the wonderful outcome people are pretending it would be.
I would rather see both brothers retire at this point. They accomplished their goal (becoming HW champs at the same time). Maybe a fight with Vitali against Valuev would be the icing on the cake.
