Kessler has a more diversified offense is MUCH, MUCH faster than Pavlik with better timing and a world class defence, something Pavlik does not have at all. Kessler also has a superior jab with more snap. It's not even comparable, what are you watching Caps?:admin
Pavlik looks stronger at 160. At 175, his power will not be what it is now. With Hopkins chin and defense, it will be almost negated. That said, Hopkins is THE BEST fighter alive at making his opponent fight HIS fight. With Pavlik's lack of experience....terrible footwork....bad movement....etc. He would be potshotted and countered all night. And lets not forget, Hopkins isnt a light hitter (he may not have the power he once did, but look at all his fights...HE ALWAYS hurts his opponent) and is deadly accurate. I would say Hopkins has a MUCH higher chance of stopping Kelly than the other way around.
I'd disagree about Kessler having the more diversified offense. Pavlik is a 2 fisted fighter who picks his punches very well, mixing in straights, hooks and uppercuts. Kessler mainly works of a left jab, straight right. Though Kessler is definately faster and seems to have the better jab as well as simply being a smoother boxer.
I think one thing is for shure Hopkins can't be knocked out even at stadium in his career it won't happen.
unless he improves his defense and expands his offense, i don't even think pavlik will be all that effective north of 160, so you have nothing to worry about....yet
Too black and white in your assessment there young jedi. I agree with the above. But the below statement is generized in a way. Pavlik may be young....but this, vs someone like Bernard wouldnt be an advantage. Hopkins is the best fighter out there at getting his opponent to fight HIS fight. Do you think Hopkins is going to back into the ropes and drop his right hand the way Taylor did? Do you think with Pavlik's terrible footwork and movement he would have ANY chance at keeping the fight where HE WANTS IT? I agree he is very powerful...in both hands at that. But that is at 160. If he ever climbed into the ring with Bernard, it would be at a higher weight...and when a fighter moves UP in weight, his power moves DOWN, so to say. He would not be able to stop Hopkins....and I dont think there is a soul out there that think Pavlik would win on points. Especially since the LHW version of Bernard is more active and stronger than the one that fought Taylor. This is a mismatch of epic porportions....
Hopkins beats Pavlik right now...a good 1-2 with power works against somehow with no defense like Taylor, but Hopkins would eat it up...and Pavlik is just a 1-2 fighter...
Hopkins has the exact same reach and is the same height as Kelly (people forget he was the bigger fighter vs Taylor). But if you are wondering how he handles a fighter with a reach advantage, go watch his fight vs Keith Holmes (who is taller and has a longer reach and is a better boxer than Kelly is). He can throw alot....but how many could he throw (AND LAND???) vs Bernard...and would it be enough to negate the amount of punishment he would take via the ridiculous amount of counters he would land past Pavlik's weak defense....and from Hopkins lead rights (STILL one of the best weapons in boxing). I would pick Hopkins by late KO or VERY WIDE UD. He overmatches him BADLY.
Hey man, nice avatar Have they picked up the pieces of JT's chin off the canvas yet? Or are they leaving them there on display to the public??:rofl :rofl :rofl
