it's not that he's shot....he was just never the beast whoever it was who made it out for him to be, he was exposed at the hands of Calzaghe for the fighter he really is....
Maybe not but after this fight he will be more damage and more close to being shot. He took a lot of leather and was hurt over 4 times. He has been hurt in 3 of the last 4 fights.
No way should he hang em up yet :nono Way too many big names from 160-175 for him to get beat up by. And he can make a boat load of money doing it.
How about you send him a nice paycheck of a couple million dollars and i'm sure he won't mind retiring
He's coming off a shoulder injury and is getting back into the groove of fighting. He fought a guy that just fought for a world title and that has an incredible KO ratio. Mendoza fought as high as cruiserweight and is pretty tall for a LHW ... I'm not making excuses for Lacy but you have to give this guy some credit ... he did what he had to do to win the fight ... yeah he got rocked a couple of times but he came back and rocked that guy a couple times as well. Lacy has only lost 1 fight and is working his way back up to title contention ... he's going to be fine and give us some exciting fights.
Umm.. he still won the fight. So should Mendoza retire as well? Or.. only former champs should retire after a close win? I mean, come on, wtf?
According to the Tampa Bay paper Talyor/Lacy is on for November 15th. Here's the link. http://www.tampabay.com/sports/boxing/article736784.ece
I think that Lacy should fight consistenly against lower oposition for a while to see if he can regain his old form. If he can't and keeps on taking punishment like he did last night, it would be wise to hang em up.
Either Lacy needs to get down to MW or retire. Competing at SMW will lead to him having brain damage.
How about this? Anybody in a close fight should give up and retire. So they can be quiters like most people.
Mendoza was a middleweight.... tall middleweight, but a middleweight none the less.... Manny Steward would blame Jeff being tired on "all them muscles".... Jeff started good... but faded... kinda like the Tsypko fight... He needs to be active...
I dont think he looked bad when he had his wind... its just he ran out of gas WAAAAY too fast... to be honest i think he needs a better trainer, he just needs to get better..... skillwise and the MAIN thing... CONDITIONING.
