I hope Marquez is planning on getting back in the ring soon enough.

Yep, Marquez is an arrogant guy who, I believe, thinks he is better than he is, and a bigger draw than he is.

He might not be the biggest draw but Mayweather aside he's as good as any of his generation imo

I'll tell you exactly where that false confidence came from.

    A combination of

    a) yes-men and backslappers telling him he dominated in the Pacquiao rematch, or won with a bullet at least. I scored it for JMM but razor-thin. He did not prove himself Manny's superior but (as with the 1st time) his overall equal (taking styles, physical ability, and intangibles into consideration)...but people around him probably pumped him up that he was "better".

    and

    b) Manny's successful (but very carefully calculated) moves up in weight.

This created the illusion that it would be just as easy for Juan to glide on up, pack on pounds, knock suckas out, and win world titles in multiple divisions.

"If he can do it (and I'm damn sure better than him), then..." is the logic that seems to have been at play.

Well, no. Marquez is one of the better fighters of his generation, but he is not "as good as any of his generation". He overestimates himself.

JMM took a chance for immortality. Win or lose I respected him for that.

I wonder if Floyd ever will, maybe go after the top dog at 160.

I think he deserves to be ranked as high as any of his era Mayweather aside if he got the decisions he deserved in both Pac fights he be rated higher he's a underestimated fighter imo

Bradley-Valero would be a hell of an undercard.
