What a poor poor performance.. i am a brit, but i wanted Malignaggi to put on a good performance to really test ricky.

I hope boxing fans don't cast Paulie aside now, but show him some love and perhaps he can still fulfill his immense potential.

A bad performance is not the end of the world, and if we all gave up whenever we failed then we would never achieve anything in life.

Once again it was a shocking performance... he really didn't even seem like he was trying to win. But he showed alot of pride not wanting the fight to be stopped.

    Message to Paulie:

Just because you lost some true boxing fans are still with you. Come back and give zab a good fight. I would love to see you fight again.

i know this sounds drastic... but im not into fighters taking beatings for just money.

He is a good talker, has good looks, is young.... i say retire, and get into being a boxing writer/analyst for a boxing site/mag and eather showtime or hbo... maybe try to get a position in GBP... ect.

Hes proven hes a good fighter, he rose to a spot in the sport where most people who lace up the gloves will never get to, made some decent money, showed he was a tough *******... have only lost to future HOF'ers...

Hes not going to be champion at 140... i think torres, holt, judah, witter, bradley all beat him.... what is the point really?

I say retire... but im just not a fan of fighters fighting on for really no reasons, ESPECIALLY a guy like malignaggi... hes young still, hes a good looking guy, good talker.. he has so much more he can fall back on. The other deciding factor is he will NEVER have a short night in a fight... he can never have a 'punchers chance', you know?

so ya... i say call it a succesful career and retire. Go to another avenue within boxing

He'll never be a great but he's still relevant. The Cotto beating was worse than this. I doubt he'll stop now.

Malignaggi is not going to be champion... period.

The kid has a lot of heart, a lot of pride, and is in store for some more losses and beatings if he continues to fight the upper echelon of fighters. Id rather see him bow out now and do something hes more suited for, having earned respect as a fighter.

You cant compare Hamed to Malignaggi.. there is no logical connection. Hamed was a great talent whos star burned out and he was beaten by an ATG, could have moved down in weight, re dedicated himself to the sport... has fight changing power and would always be in the thick of things.

Malignaggi has too much pride to be fighting just to fight... and then lose every time he steps up. Id rather just see him be happy with what hes done, and leave with his faculties... Hes got a life, a woman, friends and family. He will CONTINUE to be in long fights, struggling to outbox his opponents... for what? To reach another payday against someone whos going to lay a beating on him?

sorry... i like him too much, and he has too much potential for other things for me to say blindly YA... who cares if you wont be champion, continue getting punched in the head for a living!

sometimes you have to view things through realistic eyes.

he doenst have a big fan base, he doesnt have power to fall back on, and hes full of potential for other avenues... he has no legacy to build that will squelch his thirst.

I wouldnt be against him fighting a few more fringe guys... then getting another crack at an elite elite opponent... but when he loses (or if) then yes... its def time to hang them up imo. The problem with that is then its 'oh he should just quit?' or he can go back to the drawing board and blah blah... its always 1 more fight.

But sure... have one more go at it, but if it doesnt happen, be happy with what youve got and what youve done... and build your legacy in life in something else.

I dont think he could take Zab.... I mean, nothing suprises me with zab, so malignaggi knocking zab out of the ring would come as 'ah HA... this is def a zab fight' lol.... but I think zab would show up and outspeed and outbox malignaggi.. you would REALLY see the differance between a guy getting all he can out of his body and talent, and a guy with real world class speed, reflexes, ect... Its a perfect matchup for Zab, a feather fisted boxer who cant pressure him enough to mount anything effective.... Im not sure Malignaggi would see the last bell.

yea Zab is all wrong for Paulie ..... Zab would have a field day with him. Zab is faster than Paulie and obviously has much more power. Bad night for Paulie

Paulie's spirit was broken by the end of the night. He can beat the Urango's and maybe even the Torres' of the world, but he'll never beat the Hattons and Cottos. If he's okay with that, he can still make some decent money and have a little fame. If not, he'll struggle with it till the day he dies.

sorry but.....prior to the fight i wanted him to do well, all due to the heart he showed against Cotto, that's why i've rooted for him in all of his fights but

Paulie is bum....Cotto ruined this kid, he's looked like **** in each and every fight since his loss to Cotto, and yesterdays fight was icing on the cake

he should retire, Buddy made the right choice throwing in the towel, hell i'd of done it after round 7

i dont use the word Bum very often, if ever on here....but Paulie is a bum

very good speed, sharp punches......good legs, but cant put it all together to save his life

he should retire or live out the rest of his life on Friday Night Fights

I just don't see how can Paulie compete with top fighters. He DOESN'T HAVE ANY POWER. I just don't see how he can win fights with only his jab.

No, not drastic Kirk, you raise some very good points, i agree with what you're saying here :good

I think Paulie's been pretty dissolutioned with boxing for a long time now, it's been well documented, he's said so himself in a number of interviews, particuly on b-talk.

He's had constant hand problems/surgery, on a long standing hand injury, maybe now's the right time to bow out ?

In all honesty though, i don't believe he's ever been in Hattons class, or on his level, and in no way am i disrespecting Paulie, who's a terific fighter in his own right.

Here's a guy who started boxing at 16, he's a real character, who was a highly decorated amateur, world champion in the pro ranks, has other interests going on outside the ring. All in all, he's a success, i wish him all the best in whatever he chooses to do.
