Aside from Mosley, Cotto hasn't beaten anyone at WW who is noticeably better than Collazo.

Aside from Mosley is a pretty big aside. Mosley that fought Cotto would have beaten Hatton badly, and was considered a top welter.

Cotto has other wins like Quintana, and Judah (even with a low blow) that looked a lot more impressive than Hatton's staggering around the ring effort against Collazo.

Cotto's win over Judah was pretty impressive - but Hatton would be fancied to take Zab as well.

Quintana and Collazo are about even I'd say.

Not really, Mosley is well past his best these days.

Judah's no more a welterweight than Hatton is and hasn't beaten a top level opponent in getting on for four years and Quintana looked impressive beating Williams, but then got sparked in the rematch. Quintana has no record outside of that.

Maybe, but Cotto did it way more impressively. Hatton just looked awful in there.

His "reign" at welter definitely wasn't a great success of any sorts for a fighter of his standing. He just, and only just won a paper title from a paper belt holder. Then he got KO'd horribly. I can't even remember the last time Mayweather KO'd somebody like that.

I'm sure Hatton fans will hold that up as a raving success, but thats only because the rest of his resume is weakish.

Hatton would have beat Mosley, is that right?

And Collazo has done what exactly? Even if you scored this for Collazo, what has Berto done?

Collazo is no more proven than Quintana, infact, at least Quintana has an undisputed win over a top welterweight. And Cotto did by far the more impressive job than Hatton did over Collazo. Likewise with Judah.

You answered "not really" to my hypothesis that Mosley would have beaten Hatton, and Mosley being considered a top welterweight at the time.

Not a difficult one for a usually logical poster.

Comparing Hatton's resume to Cotto's at 147 is crazy - only one winner......

Still a fight I wouldn't mind seeing, in truth.

Deeming Hatton's welterweight efforts as a success story is crazy, nevermind the comparison.

If anybody else had of scraped by a beltholder that had not one single notable win, and then got KO'd by a guy not recognised for having power at this weight..I don't think the outlook would be so positive.

Sorry, 'not really' was in response to "Aside from Mosley is a pretty big aside".

Any version of Mosley is flat out too big and too slick for Hatton IMO.

That fight is Cotto's best win, Mosley being past his best notwithstanding.

Mosley's long reach would keep Hatton at bay all night long - however long it lasted.

His weaknesses wouldn't be at risk against Hatton the way that Cotto's would.

I think Hatton vs JMM is now the better option,be a great fight.Be interesting comparing ppv numbers and $ made to Pac vs JMM also.Pac Im sure can find a filler fight until he can entice maybe Mayweather to come out of retirement, but Pac will be back to making 30-40% again.

Hmm I dunno. I thought Shane looked good in the fight against Cotto, and against Collazo (albeit with damaged hands). Past prime of course, but he looked a top welterweight in there, Cotto only just got the job done. It's only against Mayorga he seems to have taken a big turn for the worse. I guess time can catch up quickly.

    I don't
I was just trying to find excuses to Collazo (but I did have Luis winning the fight with Ricky)
