In a Calzaghe fans' opinion. Joe is a HOFer at best, and Pavlik definitely has a possibility to get there too.
Joe is NOT an ATG. IBHOF level? Probably, but ATG? No way in hell. And, Pavlik will most likely end up at the same point: hall of fame, yes. ATG, no.
Joe is #1 ATG in his weight class based on achievement. H2H, RJJ beats him, but then who doesn't RJJ beat H2H from 160-175. Joe IS an all ATG, it's only the fact that he's not American or Mexican that he isn't thought of as such.
Good! One of my favorite posters on here is TFFP. That silly mother****er drives me nuts, and we fight constantly, but we also have a lot of laughs!
Pavlik doesn't have a possibility to get anywhere, except back down to earth when Mary sorts him out. Although they do seem to let any ****ers in the HOF. Joe will retire undefeated, solid resume, great skillset. He is a lower end ATG, 90-100, although I may be underestimating him.
No doubt its all in good fun man ..I prefer to talk boxing with someone as passionate as me its what keeps me coming back ..But hey no matter what has transpired with all these fighters the great thing is we all win I mean look at this line up ? Cotto /Margarito Hopkins /Pavlik Dawosn Tarver Jones /Calzaghe I know one thing I will have a busy as hell schedule especially since im trying to goto Jones/Calzaghe and Hopkins Pavlik
I just rewatched the fight and was surprised how easy Joe made it for Bhop to clinch. Joe was meeting him half way. Towards the end it almost looked like he wanted the clinch. This is NOT going to be the same fight we just saw.
Joe doesn't mind clinching or inside fighting, it wasn't that long ago the clueless considered him exclusively an inside fighter. He matched old Mary pretty well - we'll see if Pavlik manages the same, because he'll have to. No way he'll keep Hopkins away all the time.
Hopkins has been slowed down considerably over the last few years, man. Sorry to break it to you, but the guy is well into his 40s.
That's right . . . that's a useless stupid fight for Pavlik. If there's anything here . . . team Pavlik is simply giving Bhops . . . the chance to get back into the mix. AND . . . nobody will ever looked good against Bhops. The guy is a sleek SOB. He will never ever fight anybody face to face, toe to toe.
Joe gave up 2" of reach against Bernard. BHop is bigger through the chest and shoulder than Joe, so arm length was probably about equal. Joe had to come into Bernard's range in order to land anything. Kelly and BHop have the same reach, but again, BHop is WAY bigger through the chest and shoulders. That probably translate into a significant arm length adavantge for Pav. That should help quite abit with the clinches, head butts, and counter rights.
It is a weird fight all-round, for Pavlik because although he'll credit from me should he win, many won't because Hopkins is another few months older with a few more miles in those legs. He's also coming off a loss. So Pavlik is on a bit of a hiding to nothing, because he has to top Joe's win to stand any chance of getting favourable press, as Joe was criticised endlessly. Not easy to impress against Hopkins. Hopkins because...why the hell is he fighting a young guy that can punch for 12 rounds? What is he proving? The man is insane.
If you look at it, Pavlik has only just "Arrived" into the big time, with two victories over Taylor. He has been progressing alot since then, But he could possibly still be outhustled by a wiley veteran such as Hopkins.
