I just don't understand why people make fun of boxers quitting.

I box to stay physically fit and have sparred many times and feeling pain and getting hurt while boxing takes guts and heart and can't be seen as something funny when someone gets knocked out

You gotta respect the fighters

 

ducking is worse than quitting

and is less forgiveable.

I remember when Duk Koo Kim went into a coma and never woke up after being knocked out by "boom boom" Mancini.

It was a terrible tragedy.

It changed a lot of lives -- not the least Mancini himself.

The referee of that fight ended up committing suicide.

The hands of a trained fighter CAN be lethal.

Boxing is a VERY dangerous sport.

There is a BIG difference between WATCHING a boxing match, from home or ringside, and being IN a boxing match, with someone that wants to knock your head off your shoulders.

Its an american thing! Like booing to fighters when they find the fight boring.

 

Quitting is against fighting. Quitters get minimum in negotiations.

Good post MVC, I totally agree. I understand critism (not making fun off) if a fighter takes a dive, or if he always finds a way out (perhaps boxing shouldn't be the sport for that person). But making fun of real fighters who dedicate and risk their lives doing this is really messed up. Especially when is just to get back at other fans (at the cost of the fighter).

All that a Boxing fan can ask of any fighter is that they try their best. Regardless of the result if they give it their best shot then they are above reproach.

coward boxers who quit are a disgrace to the sport & most important tous unloyal fans! they should be forced back into the ring & beaten to death!

Sometimes you just have to grab your balls and accept your beating like a man.

Do you continue and look like a warrior to the fans or 'quit' and know you can leave that ring with your health intact.

Some boxers would happily die in the ring.. some not so much.

Most fans are cowards indeed.
