Having been in the ring with Junior, he knows to plan for a much bigger, much slower fighter. And Junior will absolutely not press the action earlier because once he does, he will get tatooed to sleep like he was in Rounds 1-11.


Sergio by mercy stoppage in Round 10 next go 'round.

 

I think Junior does better, just my opinion, I'm not a crazed fan...I've just seen enough boxing to understand the value of confidence and belief in ones own ability. Junior was doubting himself the entire fight, once he threw caution to the wind and "went for it" he had some success...maybe it helps, maybe it doesn't, but I would like to see.

 

I disagree, although I understand how you could feel that way.


Junior got severely outclassed trying to press the action in the beginning. The 12th Round didn't happen that way because he decided to press the action. It happened because Sergio got careless and started fighting Junior's fight, to press for a KO. He could have easily come out and coasted to a decision. Easily.

There's no doubt Sergio outboxes junior 10 out of 10 times, and no way Chavez wins a decision...ever. I felt Junior didn't press the action enough, he failed to cut off the ring, and didn't really use his physicality at all. He let Sergio get off first, when he did press he followed Sergio around, and rarely used his shoulder or size to smother and bully Sergio. I believe the stage and moment was too big for him, but I believe having the success late would give him confidence in his ability and seeing Martinez is mortal COULD be key. The bottom line is I (speaking for myself) would enjoy seeing it, regardless what happens. I love Sergio, he's an awesome fighter, I have nothing but respect for him. I just see interesting dynamics to a rematch and I would pay to watch it.
