Sad to hear. Vasquez is one of my favorite fighters and gave us many great fights! The wars with Crybaby Rafa were tremendous battles, I just wish the 4th fight never took place because he deserved to beat Crybaby Rafa in their rivalry, not be tied.

That's (sadly) not true for most fighters. A very small percentage get rich and famous.

Most fight for not a lot of money which makes sense because after taxes, agent, manager, promoter (if they have those), training fees, coaching staff. And the average fighter isn't a star and can't command millions of dollars.

Terrible news, Israel is a warrior, and there's no way he could have imagined something this awful happening to him due to Boxing, it such a pity the sport he loves has cost him such a horrific price. Any of you who make light of this should be ashamed of yourselves.

We're not past the 'they know what they're getting themselves into' statement you cretin.

If it was financially far more rewarding to not be that appealing to the people, they wouldn't care for the useless fans. Why should they? Cheerleaders like you aren't out there for them when it's all said and done and the lights are off. You're not entitled to say what's good and what's not.
You can't even pay your own bills.

Rigondeaux is proof that fighters tend more towards sticking to the style they grew up with that helped them get to that stage, whether it's more appealing to the crowd or not...they're not going to forgo their main advantages.

Such a shame that you haven't tripped next to a (steep) staircase yet...

Anyway... what Vasquez is going through is quite unfortunate. Wishing him the best.

Well, on the upside, now he can get a skull-and-crossbones eye patch and change his ring name to Israel "The Pirate" Vasquez.
