That's right, Pac was challenging Floyd for the P4P mantle up until the Hatton fight. After Mayweather beat Hatton and then Pac had a close fight with JMM it kind of died down a bit (calls for Pac to be ranked top). He more than likely would have overtaken Mayweather after the DLH and Hatton massacres and the Cotto win.

p4p rankings is an opinion. Rankings are not based on fact.

 

If an ESB boxing writer placed PAC as his #1 P4P then he must have solid reasons to back it up. It might not be the consensus opinion at that time but still it had some basis. The writer explained it in his write-up.
