there was one sequence when both fighters were trading with each other and Cortez broke them up for no reason. It was blatantly clear he was biased for Floyd.
A thread full of my biased countrymen, taken in by their biased commentators. A ref is supposed to break clinches and not allow hitting and holding. Cortez let Hatton get away with blue murder against Castillo and would have been pissed off when he found out Hatton faked a low blow and continously hit and held under his watch. Yes Hatton was stopped from his usual fouling, which may have helped him. However when they did fight on the inside Mayweather still got the better of him and he was ineffective As for hatton going the distance, BULL****, when Mayweather opened up he blitzed Hatton and Ricky was close to going in the 8th
What the heck is wiggling and sliding? Just like the Pacquiao fight then. It's already been said, Mayweather was the better infighter on the night and he was picking Hatton to pieces for about 3 rounds before the round where he sent him to the canvas. The only thing you can hold against Cortez is the point deduction.
Cortez is a **** referee who thinks he should be centre of attention and gave one of his **** completely inconsistent performances in this fight which distracted from the fight itself. Didn't affect the result though.
like I mean when both fighters are on the inside, they can have their arms wrapped around each other, but they can still try and box at the same times, its not a full clinch, but they can still move around, its not hard to understand.
floyd is just obvisouly a better boxer than hatton, but floyd did fight a dirty fight, he hit hatton with a lot of forearms and elbows on the inside which he should of been penalised for but i think he still would of 1 a UD whoever the ref was as hatton is too 1 dimensional
You mean hitting and holding, which is illegal, how biased of Cortez to not let Wickky break the rules
Floyd would of knocked him out either way. I know it makes you feel good to say otherwise. They were breaking him down the whole time.
It definitely would have went the distance. The fight actually had some good give and take until Cortez took over. I understand liking Floyd and his style of fighting, but don't make it more than what it is. He fights very similar to a 45 year old Hop, the same one who some of you thought beat Calzage. The first 4 rounds saw Floyd initiating the clinches and using his patented elbow. When Ricky tried any of these tactics they were separated and Ricky was warned. I think it could have been a great fight with a competent referee. It was a style contrast and Ricky had a decent shot, Floyd didn't have the punching power to keep Ricky off with one or two shots. When it came to bullying and inside game I thought they matched very well. Bottom line we'll never know cause of ****face Cortez.
What fight were you watching? The most impressive thing about that fight was that Floyd beat Hatton at his own game.
i LOVE hatton but floyd's plan b, c and d came through that night while hatton had nothing but one gameplan. once that was taken away and he was forced to adapt he got ****ing schooled. did cortez interfere too much? yeah. did mayweather throw some elbows? yeah. it's boxing, **** like that happens. you need to dig down and keep ****ing fighting.
Hatton would never have won that fight whoever the referee, but obviously Cortez was instructed to nullify Hatton's only way of causing Floyd problems.Hatton was doing ok the first 6 rounds or so,but ironically Floyd was the better on the inside anyway. However a lot of the time Cortez was breaking them up virtually even before the clinches were instigated. As for Hattons so called spoiling style, just watch the old footages of Robinson,Armstrong,Moore,La Motta,Ali and the like they were all at it,in those days it was called tying a man up.
