i had hatton up in the 1st few rounds due to floyds lack of activity. cortez never allowed hatton to fight his fight (don't complain about clinching ppl, watch calzaghe-bhop and did cortez mind it then?).

when the point was taken from hatton, it was the turning point as he lost his head and mayweather came steaming back into the fight.

with a different ref hatton would have seen the end of the fight imo, losing a split decision

    Definitely right there.
To be honest honest, It's really hard to say who would have won, but I can tell you something. Cortez made a huge impact on that fight.

When Hatton lost that point, that really dented his confidence, and all hope was lost there...
pathetic...One has to put himself in Hatton's shoes to really understand the situation..

Your right usually Hatton is a defensive genius but the slapping of his hands made Hatton drop his hands, Hatton never dropped his hands before or after, he usually has an impregnable defense, you can see how great Rickys tight guard was against Pacquaio for instance, he was winning that 1 by a country mile until Pacquaio landed his 200th lucky punch of the night

Hatton's style is to cheat. He hold's too much, and it should not be allowed.

It wouldn't have changed the result though.
    Hatton v Kostya, could have.

My word what a load of **** this has provoked.Cortez was **** but Hatton was always going to lose, because he basically isn't in Floyd's class, end of story. As for the Tszyu huggers jumping on the bandwagon and saying they didn't complain when their man was "cheated"!! Please do me a favour, they've indulged in one of the biggest and longest whinges in boxing history.Ricky was too rough for their boy the poor thing,we were told no matter what tactics Hatton emoloyed Tszyu was too tough and was going to brutally knock him out.You know what gets me throughout all of this? The slack that Tszyu was cut for being happy to quit on his stool when there was only 3 minutes left.Imagine if that had been Hatton.

Yes because Hatton has always been an educated pressure fighter. In the first round Hatton was walking down Mayweather like JCC. It was only after the point deduction did he rush in Hatton style with his hands down. :rofl

I think the bias call is bull**** myself. If you look at the beginning of the fight whe they came together it was all headlocks and forearms in th throat. imo Cortez realised it was going to get out of control so he split them when they got close. Also Hatton is an intrinsically dirty fighter anyway, so one thing no referee is supposed to do is "let him fight his fight", look at the Tszyu fight for an example of the ref letting him fight his fight

:rofl:rofl:rofl Now Cortez ruined the fight because he wouldn't let hatton hug his way to a victory??? You know Hatton bitched about Cortez, but he also bitched about Floyd fouling him on the inside Waaaaaah!!! Cortez did what every ref should do when Hatton fights.

Cortez was far too lenient for my taste. I preferred Bayless' no-holding-allowed approach.

The only mistake I made was stating it was a punch from the inside, when in fact it was a left from the outside. Before that punch, Hatton catches Floyd with a nice counter right to the head when Floyd uncharacteristically lunges forward looking to land a right to Hatton's body, and I think that counter right did most of the damage. For the following 30+ seconds, Floyd continually backed off of Hatton and clinched at every opportunity.

Forward the clip to around 1:20.

Although Hatton can hit, the above sequence of events does put Floyd's punch resistance in a questionable light. I certainly makes Team Mayweather's posturing on the whole Pacquiao/steroids accusations a lot more understandable given Pacquiao's punching power, if indeed Team Mayweather are worried about him getting caught by Pacquiao.

Having said that, I still feel it's unacceptable for a professional boxer to accuse a fellow professional boxer of taking steroids, but that debate is off-topic in this thread and is too dark and nasty a topic for me to wish to get involved in.
