WOW!!! That was a hell of a fight and showed me why Morales should always be ahead of MAB. It was clear Morales was already on the decline. Even then he managed to be schooling Pac throughout the first 5 rounds. His legs just gave out. Even from the beginning you could tell they were just not very stable.

I believe he took 50 power shots from Pac in the 6th and 7th round. HOW THE HELL WAS HE STANDING UP AFTER THAT!!?? They were very flush shots which landed in combinations. I had forgotten about this fight. It also showed the clear way to beat Pac.

YOu need a strong assertive jab like MOrales used the first few rounds. It kept Manny off balance. YOu need a stubborn guy who will be willing to take a hit and keep fighting back. Too many of PAcs opponents tend to go defensive after being hit cleanly. It seemed that everytime Morales got hit with bombs he would just tear after Pac and push him back with his own attack. I also think that the weight issue is what affected this outcome. Even as worn out as MOrales was i think the making the weight is what caused his legs to go out. I remember the weigh in pictures for that fight and Morales looked like a skeleton.
Had this fight taken place at 135 i think Morales would have actually taken this fight. He had the formula to beat him. Maybe time was not on his side but his heart was great and also his skill.

I miss him so damn much....

Yes, his legs were completely gone. He started way too fast for his own good. Old fighters need to conserve energy ala Hopkins to finish strong. Morales let it all out in the first 5 rounds against the younger very strong fighter.

Starting fast is his only chance and he and his corner knew it. That was planned.

Eric was having problem with weight and his stamina . . . so they figure they have to stop Pac early or at least get the early rounds and just coast to the finish line on the later rounds.

Imagine if he still had his stamina and legs....
What a beating Pac would have taken.
Thats why i still will rate Erik higher than Pac.

Nah, IMO he gave the last of what he had in the first fight. Morales has to be one of the most competetive fighters of all time. I loved watching him fight.

Morales was a true warrior. 4X WORLD CHAMPION in my book and the best out of the 4 (EM, Pac, MAB and JMM)

Morales fans will always use the first fight to say that he is better than Pac prime for prime. And then use the shot excuse for the rematches.

Pac fans will always use the 2nd and 3rd fights to say that he is better than Morales. And then use the moving up in weight and cut over the eye excuses for the first fight.
