I just rewatched the Wilder/Ortiz fight...

    Yep did the ref favor wilder possibly.. however wilder did his job came back from adversity and closed the show..... Of course it was against a 50 year old with heart problems not allowed to take his meds lol.

    It's churlish not to give Wilder due credit. He showed heart and strength and stamina.

    But I watched it with people who had never seen him fight before. After a couple of rounds they said:

    'Which one is the champion again?'

    Because they couldn't believe that someone could become heavyweight champion with such a rudimentary grasp of boxing technique. For as long as his fitness lasted Ortiz looked a level above Wilder, although you could see throughout that Wilder retained a threat.

    I think if Ortiz had been a little younger he would've prevailed. As it is, credit to Wilder. He has heart and he can punch.
