I just saw an MMA fight that I actually liked, but...

The MMA fans hated it! Nothing but boos all the way through until it ended in a TKO!

I'm not familiar with the promotion or the fighters, but these guys actually surprised me. The champ realized early on that he wasn't as good as the challengers equal on the ground, so he kept the fight on his feet and it gave him the advantage. This alone I could care less about, but believe it or not by the second round the two fighters were actually making adjustments to each other, both defensively and offensively. Though their boxing SKILLS are still pretty dismal, being a fighter myself it was interesting to see this match because I could see what was going on between them. It was a good chess match, although in the end the champ was knocked out just because of lack of any real defense, but still they showed better ring smarts than I've ever really seen in many MMA fighters outside of the really big names from PRIDE a few years ago.

Still what I don't get is the fans in the arena just hated it. It seems like they WANTED them to spend the first round wrestling on the ground.

So.. is there hope for the sport when there are occassional good fights like this, or no because it seems the fans actually WANT to see the stuff that us boxing fans tend to think is the most boring? I find this all very interesting because I assumed that big knockouts is all the MMA fans really care about!

    J. Varner and R. McCullough, it was on Versus somewhere between 1:00 am and 3:00 am, not sure what the promotion was. Wasn't UFC though.

Yeah, there was some great takedown defense, some great boxing, and a great finish in that fight. The tards at the show were booing like crazy though. I have to say that MMA fans seem to be the worst of any sport I can think of.

Hi im kinda new here but yea I saw the Fight(I like mma alot) it was wec I think. I saw It when it fight took place(on tv). I would say that they are one of the better strikers at 155 top 15(strikers).

I would have to agree with you on the fans they boo alot. It brings the whole event down for me when they boo. Its not that they like wrestling more then the big KO. Its just that they were more active in the first round. I liked the whole fight(even round 2). I like the wrestling becasue I wrestled (highSchool)

Go try and find Spencer Fisher vs Sam Stout 2 from the ufc (the first one was good too, but it had more ground which you might not like but I though the ground part was fun too.) one of the better stand-up wars in awhile.

That was an excellent fight and should have never been booed. That was one of the better WEC battles.

That's one of my pet peeves about some UFC fans....they boo at the drop of a hat, some fights definatly deserve booing and I'm sure we can all name a few, but when fans boo right away or just for the sake of booing it looks bad on the sport...guys just can't go balls to wall fighting all the time...sometimes there is a feel out stage or a stall. It doesn't have to be booed instantaniously.
