I just watched Adamek-Arreola again tonight

I gave Adamek 8 rounds clean and clearly, and thought Arreola clearly won only 2 rounds. The remaining 2 rounds could have been even, or just possibly have gone Arreola's way.

 

I saw that fight live, in person. To be honest, I was totally unimpressed with Adamek that night. But in retrospect, I realize Adamek was just doing what he had to do to whip a much bigger, dangerous punching but totally outclassed opponent. Adamek had to hit, slap, run and motor, and give McBride no chances to hit back.

Adamek clearly has serious limitations, all concerning his small size. But what I really like about him is that he knows his own limitations, and does what he has do to (run like hell, flurry light shots, then run like hell some more) to prevent those limitations from becoming fatal liabilities.

I was never a fan of Adamek's before, but now I'm getting high on him.

 

Boytsov lacks the agility and punching precision (accuracy) to hit Adamek. Watch Boytsov's films very carefully...play them in slow motion if necessary. You'll see what I mean.

 

Arreola has lost weight, but has he really improved? It seems to me that something may have faded in Arreola. He's getting KO's, but always over soft opposition, and he doesn't seem like the same hell-bent neanderthal we saw in earlier years.

I think Adamek has Arreola's number, and would beat him 4 out 5 times if they fought that much.

Big question is how much does Adamek have left after the Vitali debacle.

 

Boytsov's a good fighter, but he's still developing. At this stage, he is not ready for an Adamek. After Boytsov has 2 tough fights, which I expect him to win, I'll reassess his standing and prospects. But for now, he's got a lot of work to do.
