And I have to say that was a strange experience. Froch-Pascal was my first time, and thinking about how posters metioned it as FOTY material it was quite funny. Compare the twelfth rounds, please, well any round bar one i guess.:lol:

I actually used to think that Calzaghe-Kessler was a little disappointing, but man it was lightyears above the other in stamina and technical sense.
It was maybe just me being to psyched about it then!

I acknowledge that Froch-Pascal was entertaining - as a barnburner but please skillwise no meaningfull comparisons can be made.

    Pick two rounds to compare!

how can you say Calzaghe-Kessler was a little disappointing? In my eyes it was a candidate for 2007 FOTY

Pascal vs Froch doesn't come close.

Got to agree though as a cal fan is expected, skill wise the fights were no where near the same level. The froch fight was great to watch, hats off to them

btw, i also see froch struggling to beat the top guys at 168, he is far too open and slow, Kessler would destroy him

Usually brawls are better fights than skillfull ones.

I'm not with you. They were in 2 different years. Why can't they both be considered FOTY contenders in their respective years?

Technically JC v Kessler was better......but to watch i found the Froch V Pascal fight far more entertaining, more fights like this would be good news for boxing. Theres too many fights where fighters run.

Btw i was at the JC v Kessler fight and do appreciate JC's skills, but the fight wasn't close in excitement at the Froch Pascal fight. It was edge of your seat excitement, they were throwing bombs for 12 rounds straight.

Calzaghe vs Kessler was the better technical fight

I'd have to say Froch Pascal was the more exciting fight though, mainly due to the fact neither of them seemed to have any defence at all!

sometimes a great fight doesnt have to involve the best fighters, froch v pascal was a slug-fest involving 2 fairly evenly matched, hugely motivated fighters . see jamie moore v matthew macklin for another example amongst hundreds of others
then somtimes you get 2 master craftsmen battle it out. half chess match half bar-room brawl, see kessler v calzaghe
both great to watch, both an integral part of this sport we love.
calzaghe is elite, kessler hopefully will become that . but the sport still needs the like of froch and pascal , the lifeblood really of boxing, in that we see ourselves a bit in someone like carl froch to , battling to join that elite band, and he may just have a chance

Froch - Pascal was a good old fashioned tear up. No one ever siad it was a great display of technical skill. It was two guys who both wanted it battering each other. Nothing more.

Calzaghe - Kessler was on a different level with regards to skill. They were considered the best 168lbers in the world for a reason. Why on earth did you ever think it was a disappointing fight? It was a gripping fight IMO.

Warning another CNH (Calzaghe Nut Hugger) thread. Christ! You can't compare Pascal Froch with Calzaghe Kessler and draw anything meaningful from these completely different fights. Yawn. come back with something insightful. I suppose the nut huggers have a new thread to feed off for a few days.

Calzaghe - Kessler was real edge of the seat for me. Calzaghe clearly lacked the power of his younger days what with his broken hands, but was the quicker fighter. Kessler was throwing some dangerous looking bombs at times and although Calzaghe has a tough beard, i never felt certain if he could take something clean. That was a very good fight for me, although i am the bloodthirsty type so preferred Froch Pascal:good

I would rewatch Calzaghe-Kessler more then I would Froch-Pascal because as has been mentioned its a better technical display aswell as a high paced fight.

Thats not to say Froch-Pascal wasnt good viewing..a lot more then I thought it would be.
