Olu, you come across as a reasonably intelligent chap (albeit with a convenient blind spot where Ajose Olusegun is concerned), so I can only assume you are deliberately missing the point here. Of course they're not great fighters and true terrors. But they're the kind of fighters a prospect realistically needs to take on to step from domestic level opposition to true world class.

I admire your guy's seeming willingness to fight anyone who'll meet him. However, a bit of perspective needs to be kept here. As in any walk of life, a fighter needs to work his way up, proving himself at every stage. You wouldn't see a checkout boy in Tesco suddenly demanding a job as chief executive.

Right now, Ajose is fighting at domestic level. There are a minimum of two levels between him and world championship fights. The next step should be the European/NABF level fighters, fringe world class operators. For example some of the guys I mentioned above on Hatton's list like Magee, Kirvalopov etc... (not saying Ajose should fight these guys now, obviously the game has moved on since then as have the fighters in it) The step after that is genuine world class contenders. Like Tackie. Once you've gone through those levels and established yoourself as a contender, then you have the right to call out for a world title shot.

If you're calling your guy to be a greater fighter than the likes of Alfred Kotey, Ike Quartey etc... that's high praise indeed and I am interested to see if he can live up to it. But if he fights and beats Hatton or Witter (I very much doubt it, those guys are likely to be gone by the time he makes the step to true world class level), then I am not going to be apologising for anything! Irrespective of how good he is, the fact remains he needs to prove himself first. Let's be honest, every half decent prospect has their camp shouting off about how they would beat such a champion.Hype is the nature of the game! The real fighters knuckle down and prove it.

It's very simply. Maussa, Urango and Castillo = top ten fighters in most people's rankings at the time of the fights. Olusegun isn't because he hasn't beaten anybody worth mentioning. The world would ridicule Hatton or Witter if they were to fight him because, whatever talent he may have, he is unknown and unproven.

Anyhow, this is my last word on the topic. There are more important issues to discuss ahead of the weekend. And I'm actually quite impressed at how you've somehow managed to turn yet another completely irrelevant thread into a discussion about the merits of Ajose Olusegun!!!
