I Just watched Macklin vs Golovokin

I think I only saw a couple punches the whole 3 rounds that Macklin landed.

It could very well happen. I expect it will happen to some degree.

But as of now, he only has 1 top 10 ranked scalp on his ledger. His accomplishments don't approach the hype he was receiving 6 months ago, let alone the crazy hype he is getting now.

Based on the relation of what they've done and how they're praised, Golovkin at this point makes Bute and Khan of a couple years back look like bona fide legends.

I don't think i've ever read on here a more stupid post. Anybody with even half a brain could see that Macklin was severly hurt from that punch,took a dive?? FFS.
Macklin who's not elite but fought bravely against Martinez and Sturm running them both close,infact he probably beat Sturm,he has nothing in his history of being a qutter,infact just the opposite.

Still I don't understand this statement that Golovkin has a shitty defense.
You all know compubox stats, and there is plusminus rating there. Plus/minus rating determined by subtracting opponent’s connect % from listed fighter’s overall connect %, which includes jab connect % & power punch connect %.
Mayweather is the leader now with +24. Golovkin needs one more fight to get in the rating, but so far his "shitty" defense is remarkable at least:
GG - Proksa 34%-18% = +16
GG - Rosado 42%-22% = +20
GG - Ishida 51%-19% = +32
GG - Macklin 50%-25% = +25
So in average his +/- rating is +23% so far, which is second in the rating behind Mayweather, and this is being conservative as it would be inflated should I have taken his whole prof. career.
I understand the point that he didn't fight the TOP level fighters, but so far, when his opponents connect only 21% of punches, does it really mean he has a shitty defense?
Or does it mean he has a good defense with average fighters but it still needs to be tested ag. the tops?
He has plusminus rating of +23 with his attacking style. Don't you think it's remarkable?

Yes his defense is very bad. Go back and watch his fight with Ouma as well. He gets hit way to often. It will be his downfall once he steps up.

GGG team has been calling out every top MW in the game and none will fight him. The only reason he is getting the bigger names now is HBO's cash and pull in the boxing world. Finally the world will get to see what many fans who really follow the sport already know: He is a beast that will be P4P king in the next year or so.

If I had Golovkins power I would take 2 to land one, knowing my power trumps anything my opponent can throw.

Golovkin is a pressure fighter. Those fighters take a couple shots, but in doing so they set themselves up to land. Golovkin may be of the best in the sport right now in terms of cutting off the ring.

I get some people don't like the hype, but there is nothing to hate about Golovkin because he has destroyed every fighter that has stepped up.
