My family has been watching MMA since the ufc #1. I remember when all of us were chilling in the living room watching them. That **** was hilarious back then. Most of them dudes were terrible fighters.
I watched some kind of female MMA on showtime not that long ago. It was actually pretty decent. The one chick was mad hot, I forget her name but she is famous, a burnette. But the fight was good, they were trying hard, they had a lot of heart.
We have been watching the UFC since UFC I back in 1993 or 1994. It was cool because kids would always have debates about what's the greatest martial arts of them all. The usual answers would be karate, chinese kung fu, ninjitsu, taekwondo and combat aikido. But at that time, there was no tournament where the rules were wide open. Any fighting style's welcome. Until the UFC came along. I was shocked how this scrawny little man could beat those 250 pound monsters without throwing a punch.
Yeah it was hilarious UFC, Ken Shamrock and Royce Gracie (who went on to win) were the only ones who had a clue on the ground. And back then it was 3-4 fights in a one night event, I can't decide if it is a good thing that it has changed to one fight each event or not.
I liked the first few UFCs better. The only rule back then were no eye gouging and no pinching. Everythin else goes, even headbutting and hitting in the crotch. Jiu Jitsu was not very well known then, and Royce Gracie surprised everybody. HOwever with the introduction of all the rules and everybody seems to have studied all discipline, it can be said that after all is said and done, the fighter who succeeds in MMA are those who have good wrestling and boxing background.
I watch UFC occasionally but I got into Pride first. It felt a lot less like a product that you were being sold than UFC does. UFC feels a bit plasticy in comparion.
yeah one of those is a retired ufc and cage rage fighter ian freeman but i doubt he is fighting it out on the street most weeks:smooch
