    I stopped reading after this.

I thought Spinks edged it. If I remember correctly, he won a late round and that gave him the victory IMO. Why wouldnt Karmazin put his damn hand against his face and not a foot away? He fought a stupid fight.

I thoughts Spinks pulled it out as well, although, he did run that last 3 rounds of the fight. He wanted no part of Karmazin in those final rounds.

Depends how you give out rounds. If you can win a round on a light jab the whole night, than that's how you give out rounds. There is no book on how to score a fight which is what saddens me about how people can call one person's scorecard bs. I agree Karmazin didn't fight the way he should've, but if you're opponent is gonna backpedal his way through a fight and you're the champ you'd start to think I can take this one. It's called Ring Generalship and it plays a part in judging a fight.

is it ring generalship to move forward, not land, and get jabbed to death?

Well, judges thought so. But I did not think so.

Spinks beat him in the middle of the ring where he stood his ground and outboxed Karmizin up until round 9 and even got in more exchanges with him then Spinks has any top boxer. Spinks kept the fight in the middle of the ring and countered and out jabbed him. Spinks usual fight. Karmazin was missing a whole lot and just got outboxed. And you dont give out rounds for light jabs. But clean punches and counters as well. Karmazin did neither but the 3 rounds he won convincingly. Karmazin himself even knew he lost.

As I've said before, I have not seen the fight recently so I can't give you further detailed information until I find a way to watch it again (it's not on my shelf of recorded fights). On the highlighted quote of mine, the whole idea of backpedalling is to stay in the middle...it's circles, stay off the ropes, out of the corner. You had seen the fight in Spinks' favor, I did not...there's no hard evidence to prove either of us wrong and I'm not trying to do that. There were press row scorings that had Karmazin winning as well, so I can't be all that blind. Anyways, I just tried to back up my belief earlier on why I had Roman winning...until it quoted in which I was compelled to further it.

If by beat him in the middle of the ring you mean "held on for dear life" (to quote his corner). then yes you are right.

i thought it was a close bout...and could have gone either way....but when ur fighting in ur opponents backyard, under his promoter...u better at least knock him down. karmazin was very classy about the decision. he deserves another shot.

I didnt see EITHER WAY and I DIDNT SEE Karmazin winning. I'm not hating because Karmazin is the toughest "GRAND DAD" looking guy out:good ..

Seriously though Spinks won on points and karmazin like others have had trouble catchimg spinks consistently enough.:nono RK is a very good fighter and I'd be happy to see him get a shot at a 54 belt or name.

I'd take a rematch with Spinks even:good Show us that you can beat him because it didnt happen the first time.

That was a frustrating fight where it felt that Karmazin should have won and had the ability, but he just sleepwalked through the early rounds and didn't do enough. I think he'd win the rematch but he just didn't have enough urgency. If a guy really punches that lightly he should have just walked through him in those early rounds where he was hesitating.
