And it was a boring fight. Nothing appreciable happened, except that the expected victor did indeed prevail. Carry on, and thank you.
Umm, I'm not sure if I'm missing something here, but I thought that was a pretty good fight, and an underrated and overlooked performance by Saad. Johnson fought a good fight early, but I thought Saad broke him down very nicely. In a technical sense at least, I thought that was one of Saad's better performances.
Vonzeel was a talented boxer. I loved to watch him box. He was just around when there was some real badasses in the division. I don't think he was as sturdy as some of them. But he was a really talented boxer
To his credit, Vonzell took full responsibility for how this one ended like a man, accepting full blame for so stupidly failing to protect himself properly at all times. Earlier, he tried to stick and run his way to Saad Muhammad's title, with Gil Clancy's repeatedly resigned assurances to the live CBS that he would never be able to sustain the kind of movement he was attempting until the final bell. Sure enough, Vonzell inevitably ran out of gas, and a patient Matt caught up with Vonzell in 11. If the gay, *****, dip**** pussyfaggot 12 round limit had been in place for Saad Muhammad-Vonzell, a drastically altered outcome might have resulted, but the championship distance made all the difference. I wonder how many inferior challengers like Vonzell have become title claimants in the post championship round era (or even HOFers, or acclaimed as ATGs) because there was no longer a championship distance in place to expose them. (Edwin Rosario is in the IBHOF exclusively because the championship distance was abolished by the WBSulamain just in time for Rosario to compete for their vacant title.)
Haven't seen that fight in ages. Actually, I only saw it live on tv. I remember Spinks koing him. Johnson was a good contender, but not in Spinks' league.
