I just watced the Mike Tyson Vs. Kevin McBride fight for the first time ever today because I didn't have Showtime at the time it was aired live. Mike Tyson really was winning that fight, scorecards of 58-56 or even 59-55 were acceptable. Mike was digging in with body shots and outlanding McBride most of the fight. Tyson could've won that fight had he not quit and went back to illegal tactics. McBride showed a lot of durability in that fight, hitting Mike with inside punches, especially the uppercut. It certainly wasn't a pretty fight, but McBride was able to fight his fight with Tyson. Tyson looked like he could've had McBride out a few times in that fight but either his punching power had diminished, or he was just aging so much he couldn't land a solid shot. What did you think of this fight? It solidified Mike didn't belong in the top 50 in the world. I expected Mike to stop McBride in a round before this fight but it wasn't so.

Tyson was just BEYOND done at that point, someone like McBride shouldn't last not even one second with a 10% version of Tyson let alone prime. Tyson just wasn't in that fight not mentally nor physically, he just didn't have the desire to do it mentally and physically he was shot.

McBride is a horrible fighter, he had Tyson dead tired by round 2 and hopeless but did nothing about it. All he did was hold on and throw pathetic punches.

If Mike Mollo looked like Tyson against McBride then it should be clear how horrible this McBride guy really is.

A couple years back someone like McBride would've been blasted out in a round, I'd favor the Tyson who fought Danny Williams to do that.

Tyson should have faced a smaller fighter at that point, just to carry on few fights more and collect the dough. But real talk Mike was done, and he tried and failed.

If the Tyson who fought Ettience faced Mcbride it would had been different.

Tyson summed it up well himself by saying he shouldnt be in the sport if he is losing to fighters like that...or something to that effect.

The heavyweights got bigger as Mike started to diminish. A bad combination for him.

good analysis. mike looked bad, but mcbride should be given some credit: mike wasn't horible and would've beat a lot of c level fighters that night. mcbride did fight his fight and showed determination at least (because mike did land some good shots). that said if mcbride wsan't 6'6 and 265 lbs he would'nt have survived. mcbride was just able to lean and hang on mike enough and club him in clinches to make mike want to quit. poor preparation by mike and his semi trainer and bad match making IMO (why not pick some c level average sized hw to get an easy win even if the comeback was going no where?).
