Thanks for posting this. On Roper--he was another boxer who had quite a career in Hollywood. I recently watched an old Johnny Mack Brown serial and the part of a really ominous hired killer was played by Jack Roper. I checked with IMDB and he had over sixty credits stretching right through his boxing career into the 1950's. Roper was the guy John Wayne killed in the ring in THE QUIET MAN. In the serial I saw he was very effective. His voice was a deep, flat, monotone which probably wouldn't have worked in conveying emotion, but for a stone-cold killer it was an asset.
You're most welcome. Can't find this fight on YouTube or any of those similair sights, so I got quite excited when I saw it. GOt to love Roper's heart. He's still trying to get up when the ring is rushed. Nice detail on him by the way, I shall keep an eye out.
