I kind of thought Cotto won.

    And I don't like either fighter over the other. Here are some points.

    1. Canelo didn't look any better against Cotto than he did against floyd. Floyd is just faster than Cotto and punches harder. So lets dispel any "new canelo" or "160 prime canelo" from starting.

    2. Cotto landed good crisp combos. Maybe I'm just biased toward good combo punching. But I feel he landed a lot more than they gave him credit for.

    3. You have to take the belt from the champ. I don't feel like that happened.

    4. Cotto is old, has already been stopped by pacquiao and Margarito. He was also beaten better by Floyd imo.

    5. Seems like a weird fix. Canelo is a young, handsome, humble, personable man. He is a good throwback fighter. He is promoted by Oscar de LA hoya. I don't think the hands who put money into this wanted cottl to win.

    6. Despite all of this, I still think canelo can beat Golovkin.

    Anyway congrats to canelo for becoming a lineal champion. Good fight from two sons of mayweather.

    I thought cotto was going to get stopped when he get caught with a solid punch but he absorbed it very well and every time canelo landed a good punch cotto inmediately was looking for the action.I had cotto winning a close decision but i wasnt expecting an unanimous decision with those scores.
    Anyway, i dont think canelo will fight ggg next , with the best of luck at the end of 2016.

    Cotto didn't.

    Neither did his wife.

    It was a pretty one-sided affair.


    Cotto did do better, much better, than I thought he would.

    I did not expect him to be vertical at the final bell.

    But Canelo was just too big and strong. Cotto's punches had little or no effect on him, and the reverse was clearly NOT the case.


    The first round could be scored either way.

    I called it 10 - 10.

    After that, the only close rounds were 4 and 8. I scored both for Cotto.

    118 -108.

    Ridiculous score. I had it 7-5 Canelo or a draw. Because Cotto is in the ring with Canelo, all of a sudden he is feather fisted, and people score the fight like it is Malignaggi in there? Neither guy was staggered. Both landed hard shots a plenty.

    :!:Man i love and respect a lot Cotto's carrer but I really don't know if Cotto wins clearly but Canelo don't do anything to steal the tittle for me a decision so open like this 1 only do more damage on this sport. The box is about who score more and I only hear the Mexicans commentators talk about Canelo and what about the great combinations that Cotto hit in all the fight. This is trash and what happen with all the Nelo fans that talk about the devastation of Cotto that fight was a DRAW LIKE MUCH,

    Don't bother dude. It's the same 4 Mexicans doing damage control in every thread. Cotto won clear as day.

    Lol at "one sided". Not even close. I don't have a problem with Canelo winning but it wasn't one sided.

    I'll ait down and watch it tomorrow and give my score. Maybe canelo won. But 119 to 109? That's ridiculous.

    close ass fight with canelo being the way bigger fighter. he didnt do anything that impressed me having all that weight advantage over cotto. Cotto boxed beautifully. He won. I had it 7-5

    Once again people cannot grasp the idea a fight can be somewhat close with one fighter winning most of the rounds.
