I see the guy Ray beat and he dug down to beat them with different styles. Norris was not the fighter Ray was. I think it is good you admire Terry, but Terry was not better than Ray.

If all you have is Terry Norris outboxing Ray in 1991, when Ray's best year of fighting was 10 years before, do you really think that is really something to put a lot of weight on? I would think Terry's wins over contemporaries mean more

of course! you dare deny it?

unofficially, Sugar had gone 10 years without a loss and since none of the writers said anything BEFORE the fight, and on top of that, his blowout of Duran in a masterful display of hit and dont get hit

He just couldnt do it with Terry

Still the weird obsession with Terry Norris.

He fought a shot SRL as such the results are meaningless. Just as meaningless as Berbick win over a shot Ali or Charles win over a shot Louis.

The net effect historically is SRL is universally considered an ATG and a pfp ATG. Norris is considered as neither.

the question is, could Terry whip Hagler 1987?

From what I saw of him in sparring and the numerous misses in the Leonard fight, it is entirely possible

Marvin would be facing an even speedier opponent and might leave Marvin chocking on his dust

I think at tis stage of his career, Marvin was just too worn out to muster the kind of all out assault we saw in the Colbert fight where He could put an end to his opponent suddenly

but what youre claiming is false. he wasnt shot

a shot fighter fights stationary with his back to the ropes and takes unecessary punishment

This was not the case in his bout just prior to norris.

    he took no punishment

he did not let his back touch the ropes

his movement was in play with his legs enabling him to move out of range at will

quick multi punch combinations suggest his offense had not been depleted

therefore you claim is false and you must give full credit to Norris for his upset win

Opinions are irrelevant. It might make for a nice consolation prize for losers

but nothing beats the real thing - H2 H WINNING

Where does it say a shot fighter fights with his back to the ropes? Where is this a fact?

Did Louis fight Charles with his back against the ropes?

A shot fighter is one who has lost substantial abilities to a point where he can no longer fight well. Leonard was fighting his next to last bout when he fought Norris. He no longer represented anywhere near his prime capabilities.

Show everyone where Norris is rated over Norris in either pfp or all time at Leonard’s fighting weight. If you can’t show this info from known experts all you have is your own opinion which is completely worthless. We are all waiting......

but it's not my opinion that Norris whipped Ray; its a fact

Its opinion where any fighter stands in the ratings. that's why everyone rates fighters differently

so rating fighters is of no relevance

what a stupid question. what boxer fights with his back to the ropes waiting to get his ass kicked, when he can use his legs to keep him out of range???

what SHOT boxer uses his legs all 12 rounds en route to winning every round, and fires off 8 punch combinations?

Ray only fought 6 times after Hearns in 1981 and handpicked those fights. And should have had a loss against Hearns. The Hagler fight was controversial. He struggled with Lalonde. Ray did not hold a title when he fougt Terry in 1991. It was a lets see what we can do here, which was very odd compared to his weakening Hearns and Lalonde in 1988 and 1989.

IF the Ref had let it go, Hearns probably weathers it and wins a UD. so no you only thought you knew, you were lucky the ref jumped in too early, you had arguabaly the 2 biggest names in boxing at that moment in time fighting for all the marbles, you let one of them hit the canvas before you just jump in, Hearns was boxing masterfully at that point and he weathers the storm and Wins it.

Leonard's greater chin and heart is what saved him that fight, and hearns lack thereof. Hearns definitely beat him the seccond go around and both were incredible fights with two championship level fighters giving it their all.

Red, you need to be on some shrink's couch, talking through your childhood and your SRL obsession.

    1. Hearns totally out boxed SRL for most of the first fight... he was miles ahead before he got caught and stopped.
    2. Either of Hearts or Leonard of that fight would have destroyed any version of Norris.

Like I said, if you're not trolling (quite likely), you need professional help.

You did say you were old. Maybe you suffer from dementia ?
