Why would you compare the two?

One is a 21 year old fighter in his 18th pro fight, with the opponent presumably chosen to give more experience of different styles, etc.

The other is a 26 year old fighting his 27th fight and what purported to be his 11th world title fight.

    Should they be comparable?

Your missing the point - they are both terrible match ups after what was expected. Don't over analyse it.

I just hope Gomez has something left to make it a competative fight for a couple of rounds.

Christ, Gomez was considered shot to pieces 6 years ago. OK he still had enough to beat Arthur but come on...he's definitely done now and is way smaller.
another joke match up for no chin Khan

It's fairly comparable to what I was expecting actually. Maybe you need to adjust your expectations.

You sound more realisitic about Khan than he is himself.

Gomez will come to fight alright but he is years past his best, it just shows how unsure khans team are about his ability and chin, and also how far off this "world title" fight is.

It will be fairly competitive for the first 3 rounds where Gomez is at his most dangerous and then Khan will pick him to pieces and stop him around 6 rounds in my opinion.

I thought Gomez was fighting Mcdonagh in Wigan on May 23rd in Wigan for the Irish Super featherweight title?

Maybe he wanted a tune up gimme fight before he went for a title.

Its a bit of a mismatch, but I have to admit I'm not terribly disappointed. My original list for Khan's next opponent looked something like this:

    (1) Yuri Romanov (Dog's Balls match-up; never likely).
    (2) Edner Cherry-like decent American (OK; probably not).
    (3) Thaxton/Rees (Realistic I thought; 2bad it couldn't be made).
    (4) Stefano Zoff (NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

I thought Frank "the Wank" could have stretched to Rees, but deep down I was dreading Zoff. Gomez comes in somewhere between option 3 and option 4.
