I now understand why lots of people dont like or think boxing is boring! In all seariousness im a boxer and I have been watching for a while and just look at these several months and how many things have gone wrong or robberies and early stoppages and other bs has happend! This **** is driving people away from boxing! preety soon we will have no fans of this sport if this keeps up! I had 5 friends over to watch the katsidis-gaysmayor fight and I had to APOLOGIZE to my friends over this BS fight! Lets not even mention the vera-lee fight and the marquez-pacman fight. But the marquez-pacman fight could of went either way but this stuff is getting out of hand! This type of stuff wouldnt happen in team sports and if it did it would be really really rare! Please share your thoughts on this and dont think im a boxing hater, Im a huge fan and a boxer myself and this is how im viewing this!

I hear what you're saying. Part of being a boxing fan (and educating new boxing fans) is living with and recognizing the things that actually go wrong, but also understanding why things unfolded the way they did.

Stoppages in boxing are subjective. You've got to convey that to people more clearly these days, what with the MMA craze. There are no choke holds, and not everyone is going to get coldcocked. It's up to the ref to protect the fighter, not just from unnecessary punishment, but from himself. Teach people about the bouts where the fight wasn't stopped in time, so that they learn why a ref might act at a certain moment. Give them the tools to recognize good stoppages from bad ones, or at least make rational arguments about ones they dispute.

Look at it this way, if the outcome is balanced on a razor's edge, the way it has been the last few weeks, odds are the fight was a damn good one. Why the hell would you "apologize" for a fight with as much action as Marquez - Vasquez, Pacquiao - Marquez, or the fights tonight? If your friends watched these fights, and in the end would rather forget the effort, skill, and art that was involved, that's their loss and you did your best. And sometimes, that's just personal. I like Tiger Woods, but damned if I can watch golf every week.

I have a feeling though that like the rest of us, your friends will be back for the next big fight. Keep your head up man.

My feed cut out, so I can't say I saw how the whole thing played out. But I sure didn't see Katsidis arguing the stoppage in the post-fight interview. That usually speaks volumes, when the fighter doesn't complain.

Knees bucking isn't the same as going down and getting up wobbly or cockeyed. Refs used to let that slide, but not these days. See Zab's Funky Chicken, Enzo Mac, and Forrest - Mayorga I for examples.

You know what? Invite those friends over for the Spinks fight on Thursday. See if they're not begging for more of Casa and Katsidis by the end of the evening.

    :good

Funny, because this is just the type of fight I would encourage my non-boxing fans to see to win them over to the sport. Multiple knockdowns, two way action, both fighters showing tremendous heart, and a devastating KD to end things. What's not to like? The stoppage wasn't controversial. Katisidis didn't protest it and even looked out of it as they were announcing the decision.

I understand what yall are saying and I'm doing a report on this in my MKT class. But I really think that the tyson ear biting thing had alot to do with this. Along with Judging, the best not fighting the best. But boxing is coming back thanks to Donaire vs Vic, boxing has put on alot of great fights after that to make people for get about the judges from the previous week, because there is always great fights the next week now

:huh What's the problem with these fights? All 3 fights were great action packed scraps. Lee-Vera was somewhat of a premature stoppage, but understandable. A knockout loss for Lee was inevitable. Pac-Marquez 2 was properly judged. A close fight, which could have went either way. Just because you may have seen it different, doesn't make the decision a "robbery." Katsidis-Casamayor was the fight of the year, with the ref making a judgement call that saved Katsidis from a brutal knockout loss. I don't know what the problem is.

I'm starting to like u, because this is the type of fights I tell my classmates to watch. And I will tell them to pull it up on demand. it was a great fight with Katisdis Brawling and Joe showing excellent counter punching and overall boxing skills. There were knockdowns, blood, sweat, and tears.:good

This was a great fight. If your friends cant appreciate it then we dont need ******ed fans like that in our sport.
Did is get it right when you were complaining about Marquez-Pacquiao?? That makes me question your knowledge in boxing. That was a great aggresive yet tactical fight for both guys. Its runner up in my book right now for FOTY.

Yeah, I will definitely be telling my boys to check this one out on the replay and "on demand". I can't see how anyone could watch this fight and think that it's the kind of event that turns people off on the sport. It had it all. Young gun versus old lion, boxer versus slugger, etc.

Exactly this can make an argument with people saying that the boxer beats the brawler most of the time. I feel the the person who started the topic about certain fights like Lee yesterday, but I thought he was going to be done. But Joel would had hurt him bad if the ref didn't stop it

Why did you have to say sorry for tonights fight? It was a great fight and not controversial......the fact that you would apologize for it makes no sense
