Good fight this was, i know Ruiz was **** and old but it was good entertainment. I know many of you would beg to differ.
He doesn't throw too many of them, most are wide swinging shots. Even Valuev managed to duck them enough to prevent him from being hit with a fist. Haye connected with the inside of his arms mostly, they were simply that wide and sloppy.
you can tell that ruiz knew in his heart that he wasent going to hold this fight, he wanted to go out on his shield for the fans who all said he was boring. respect.
Ruiz was an old man ready to retire - when he was younger he fought someone who fitted the beast monicker better [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FZ4ZlT63xU&feature=related[/ame][ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FZ4ZlT63xU&feature=related"][/ame]
Except for the bolded, true. The begining of this fight was very impressive. Then it seems like he wanted to finish him too much and lost his composure though.
I always like how Haye uses head and upper body movement to sway away from three or four of Ruiz's punches in a row before he backs up and unleashes the right-hand, dropping him. Those few seconds almost reminded me of how Ali used to use his reflexes and such to evade punches and fire his own, but Ali obviously did it much better. Haye is a bit of a git, and says/does stupid things, but it's quite refreshing to see a heavyweight who can actually move around the ring rather than plodding, and who can fire off genuinely fast punches and evade incoming shots with evasion and reflexes. He doesn't do it as well as he should -- Ruiz landed a surprising number of shots that night, and we saw how Barett was able to catch him off balance, etc -- but the fact that he's even using such a style in the heavyweight division is startling. I'm so used to seeing titans shuffling across the canvas and throwing fairly slow, careful punches, and then I see Haye bouncing around and throwing explosive shots. Quite cool. His defence and chin are probably too leaky to deal with the Klit Brothers, but I would probably tune in out of curiosity, which is more than I can say for any other current heavyweight.
Haye isnt that good of a fighter in a p4p sense, he is only doing well because the HWs are **** right now & CW wasnt the best either when he was there. If he fights & beats a Klitschko I`ll re-think my views on him but I think he`d get stopped by either one.
everyone they have fought have been top 10 dummy, wlad has had 8 mandatorys .... that means...they are pretty much ranked #1
A nice amount of rabbit punches there by david gaye , typically the ref said nothing , **** if stoney was in the corner of ruiz and that happened there'd be WW3!!
Look at how bad Haye's defense is...infact he has no defense...his defense is backpeddling or running.
Old man or not Ruiz can take a massive shot and he couldnt take that one, but a real heavyweight beast would always finish the fight soon after that. Hayes power has pretty much come up in weight with him but people like Ruiz and Barrett seem to be able to get back up from shots that ended Cruiserweight fighters.
