! was one tough cookie who once ko'd a famous opponent of Jack Dempsey and later on was ko'd by Joe Louis. Who was I ?
Jack Sharkey fought both Dempsey and Louis and may have shared some of their opponents as well, but knowing Burt I doubt its someone obvious.
Jack Sharkey was a famous opponent of Dempsey. Carnera knocked out Sharkey and Carnera was knocked out by Louis. (So was Sharkey.)
I want to say Sharkey but I'm trying to think of a Dempsey opponent he could've beaten. None come to mind.
V, you are on target. It is Arturo Godoy. In 1923 Jack Dempsey flattened Luis angel Firpo, then in Firpo's prime. Years later an old rich Firpo made a comeback, and was flattened by a young Chilean Arturo Godoy who was a rugged heavyweight who was in turn ko'd by the prime Joe Louis in 1940...Incidentally, though I never saw Godoy fight, I once saw him train in Stillman's Gym just before he retired. His rugged face was laced with so many scars I recall...Good show...
