why, I think Dawson likes money.

Do you. It is very smart on his part considering RJJ was just in a PPV fight that did 500 000.

If dawson got RJJ He would get a huge pay day maybe 3 to 4 million.

he didn't really call Jones out, he only pointed out that Jones was calling everybody out but him, and he was right. I don't think he's looking to fight Jones right now, he has Johnson to take care of and after that the Tarver-Woods winner. If he passes those tests, he'll be in a position to call out anybody IMO.

yeah, cuz everytime mayweather is named in a thread, lance comes on there and says the same thing...but this is a dawson thread, so, he came on and said the opposite.

Chad is doing what he should do. Call out a legend who thinks is still got it like Roy Jones (who obviously is not even a shadow of what he was in his prime) so that he can get a bog payday and have a resume that includes a win over RJJ, i mean its obvious and clearly the right move.

If i was RJJ i would not even consider Dawson.

If i were Dawson, RJJ would be the biggest fight that he could possibly make.

I am always saying stuff like that. To me, real competition is someone who is young, prime, live, dangerous, unbeaten and hungry like Diaconu, limited as he may be. As long as Dawson fights the best "real" competition out there at least once a year, he probably does need to polish off some have-been legends known and loved in America, because that's the only way to make it if you're American. :conf

This thread is BS Dawson isn't calling out a 40 year old Jones. He's calling out a 39 year old Jones. :p

From what I've seen of Dawson, he isn't such a "beast" that he will absolutely walk through present day rjj. I got no problem with Dawson calling out RJJ, I'd rather see that fight (even if it were to be one sided tho I think not) because at least everyone would know where RJJ would stand against young top lhw's of today. I've also got no problem with older champs fighting on so long as they aren't trying to get easy paydays, so let RJJ step up and face this young lion -- who imo doesn't look all that special.

    Pure speculation!

I think he'd have won a lot more than that. The perception of Roy's past greatness is greater than his actual greatness.

I disagree again. Roy is running his mouth off like a stupid *****, then he's still fair game. Dawson would school Jones now, so don't expect Roy to take the bout....he'd much prefer fighting Ricky Hatton or Marco Antonio Barrera.

Dawson wants a big payday so I don't have a problem with him calling out Jones. This is no different than everyone from 160 and down calling out Oscar.

Exactly. The future is bright for Dawson and a fight with ATG like Roy would give Dawson instant exposure. The fight would be talked about on ESPN and be all over the internet.

The problem is that LHW is currently is the worst division. Dawson simply does not have anybody to fight against except Diaconu and Erdei. However, the above two are not draws, and Dawson (rightfuly so) wants to get paid in addition to a good name on his resume (even though totally washed up).

I think prime RJJ would have hishands full with a prime Dawson as well. Remember, Roy always had some problems with southpaws, and even admtitted that Tarver wouldve given him problems in his prime. Now consider that Dawson is bigger, faster, and better than Tarver ever was, and you'll see a fight today as a blowout (in Dawson's favour), and a fight prime for prime as competetive.

That said, I would still favour a prime Jones, probably by something like a 116-112 score, but that is how highly I think of Dawson.

A prime Jones beats the hell out of Dawson ..To much speed even with his south paw stance Dawson gets lit up ..But for now unfortuantly the lt heavy weight division has no starts and it will be the case in a year or 2 ..Although I don't hate the man for wanting to get paid he may never see the money he wants due to the sub par division ..His best bet is to unify ..
