Cake over pie. But there have been instances where pie can pull out the decision in a close contest. I'll break it down in greater detail...

    Angel Food Cake> Apple Pie
Chocalate Cream Pie> Angel Food Cake.
    Chocalate Cake> Chocolate Cream Pie.

Yet, if you add something like whipped cream and maple syrup to Apple Pie, it can stay with Choclate Cake.

    And there you have it.

    (PS This thread rocks. :D)

:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl And yet they fancy themselves experts because they read WikiPIEdia and CakeRec.org Thats not even to speak of the unfair advantages these new desserts have nowadays over the old timers.

Cherries in jar? WTF?! You could literally just buy your way to a mandatory slot by spending a little at Sams Club:-( IT's a damn shame really.

Finally, the voice of reason and intellect has come aboard. Clearly the Cake is underestimated and pie being overated due to its showing against a shot Cinnabon and a over the hill vannila ice cream(who consequently had only 3 hours notice)

This whole Apple pie/Ice cream hybrid is as bad as Oscar partnering up with Shane and Hopkins.

You would NEVER see cake sell out like that.

...........Desserts were better then. Take the ubiquitous SuzieQ snack cake from Hostess. It was bigger then, and cheaper. Today, they're sized down and overpriced. P4P the best in the world then. All they know these days is their precious Little Debbie Strawbery Rolls, as if they mean anything in the larger picture.

The thing is, it doesn't take much to seek out this old stuff. I mean, youtube is littered with footage of the old snacks. :think

clearly you have a cake bias. Its all over this post. Angel Food cake is way overrated. Apple Pie is good every day. Angel Food cake is good maybe once or twice a year.

Apple Pie is a staple in all households. No one cares about Angel Food cake except nuthuggers.

also just to add, how many ingredients does it even take to get Angel Food cake made. Apple Pie takes little to prepare and the sole reason its as good as it is is because of the Apples.

Angel food cake is processed crap.

Apple Pie is, indeed, a heavyweight, but like all aging heavyweights, it is a shadow of what it used to be, and relying more upon its reputation than upon its current merit.

Angel Food Cake I would sumit, is underrated, due to its lack of exposure. No one really talks about it that much, and they should.
