I think at this point it's very clear GGG is by far the best mw and it's not even close. He's so dominant that he has everyone worth fighting at this point too scared to step in the ring with him. Now do I wish that cotto and the other remaining top mws would fight him? Yes of course I do! But will that happen? At this point it seems to be an obvious no.

Since he has no options at mw, move the hell up to 168. There are some big fights to be made with ward, froch, and jcc jr if he can make weight. These fights would be huge for both his legacy and bank account. In fact, winning these fights are far more impressive than clearing out the rest of the mw division by a long shot.

Only thing he misses out on by going up is a possible Canelo PPV which sucks, but I'm not sure Canelo would be too excited to fight ggg anyway.

no ggg doesn't have to do anything.chavez jr cant even make 168 and has to fight at light heavyweight jr is a bum anyway so beating him wont mean anything to ggg's legacy.froch is out with an injury and who knows when ward is coming back.I disagree on canelo not wanting to fight him canelo is the only one who has the guts to accept a fight with ggg at middleweight.

    Well said.

Like my homeboy Dougie Fischer wrote this morning:

I don’t see any of them (top 168 guys) rushing to hop into the ring with GGG. I see them protecting titles they currently hold (Abraham), I see them challenging others for major belts (Groves and DeGale), and then making easy title defenses, and I see them fighting each other (Froch and Junior). I don’t see GGG easily getting into the super middleweight mix.

He can do whatever he wants to do. He's a great fighter, but unfortunately since he was an amateur for so long, he doesn't really have time on his side now. He needs to get his big money fights now, which hopefully will also be big legacy fights.

Even if his intention is to clear out the MW division and be the undisputed champ at 160, the caliber of the top-tier fighters in that division (Cotto, Quillin, Lee, Lemieux,) aren't on the same level with the guys at SMW (Kessler, Ward, Froch, Chavez sr.) He can get bigger paydays fighting the guys at 168, and wins against those fighters would do wonders to his overall resume in comparison to staying at 160 and attempting to clean out the division. Another problem is a lot of these top 160 guys seem like they don't want anything to do with him. It could take him 2+ years to finally achieve the feat of being an undisputed champ at 160 if he keeps waiting on those guys.

I like him, so hopefully he'll finally start getting the big names in the ring soon. I don't think the SMW guys will avoid him at all.

If I was him, I'd test the waters out at SMW against one of the older, past their prime guys who still has a decent name. A fight against Kessler in Denmark or Arthur Abraham in Germany would do very well at the gate (probably the most money he'll be seeing as a pro,) and also be a good measuring stick for GGG to see if he's able to bring his power up to the weight class.

    hahhahahahah riiiiiight

Macklin, Geale and Murray, all top 10 middleweights, were not exactly tomato cans.

Don't get me wrong, we'd rather him in with Cotto, Quillen, Ward, Froch but those guys mentioned were no tomato cans. He just makes top 5 and top 10 guys look like tomato cans.

No point in hating the guy.

^^I think several 168 lb fighters would jump in the ring with him this year. Specifically I think Ward, Froch and Chavez Jr would all be able to fight him by this fall/winter, probably after each of them gets 1 fight under their belts.

As far as Abraham and Kessler, I think both guys would be ok with a GGG fight. Abraham had some legendary power himself at MW, I think both of those guys would think they had a viable chance to be competitive with Gennady.

Well what we do know is that mw guys won't jump in the ring with him, what we don't know is what smw guys will do.

If he can't get fights at either I'd rather him take on decent fighters at a higher weight.
