Hmmmm...between 1997 (Eubank) and 2006 (Lacy), in 9 of his prime years, Calzaghe fought bums...

Calzaghe has less titles (WBO is garbage in every other division)
Calzaghe has less weight classes (he sat in a soft SMW division)

He was the favorite against Kessler. Meanwhile, Hopkins was a 3-1 underdog against Tarver, and I believe he was an underdog against Wright as well. Furthermore, Wright, Tarver, Taylor, even DLH was a stiffer challenge than Lacy.

Entirely correct, so simple yet it still seems to have bounced off the skulls of several dumb asses in this thread.

Lacy's one of the lesser names on his record, you keep mentioning him because of your ignorance of the other class fighters Calzaghe has beat.

    How do you define experience?
Pro + amatuer career no fights, age?
or you putting everything into the mix?

I dont think there is too much in it to be honest.

I think it will be a good fight, Joe getting a UD or stopping hopkins late.
Who do you think wins it? Hopkins?

The Robin Reid Calzaghe fought would have decapitated young Lacy.

    He gots you there.

Calzaghe fed on weak WBO comp. Don't blame us that your boy didn't fight for a legit belt until 2006... that was his own choosing for not willing to leave his cozy hometown. He was the one content feeding on WBO has-beens and never-weres.

Stop trying to blow up the WBO as something special, it isn't, it's not, and it never will be a legit belt.

I dont think these modern day American fighters are all that they are cracked up to be anyway, they are no better than other top boxers from around the world.Take away Vegas money and the Hopkins and Mayweathers would have had to fight abroad at sometime with neutral refs and judges and not having being able to dictate the details like weight.

CALZAGHE SAT IN EUROPE, IN RELATIVE OBSCURITY, DEFENDING HIS GARBAGE WBO WORTHLESS SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT WEAKEST DIVISION ABOUT 123 lbs. IN BOXING BELT FOR 9 YEARS, RATHER THAN FIGHTING BIG FIGHTS AGAINST BIG NAMES.

They've got a major superiority complex - same as their fans.

And instead of this being about Hopkins and Calzaghe, now it's turning into another UK vs US thread.

    Whatever. Same BS different day.
