I think a few people are forgetting something when they see boxers make public statements. THEY VERY RARELY POSSESS LITERARY GENIUS! Joe C is no wordsworth. Joe started boxing at 21, Hopkins at 23 but prior to Joe's professional debut he was already a very experienced amateur.

Why analyse such quotes? Just leave it till Saturday night to see who has the best answers...

Calzaghe was green and couldn't sleep with nerves so it was a good performance.

No point in saying much because your clearly not aware of the past. Jones did indeed offer Calzaghe a fight, and Tarver did indeed call him out, as did DM. Ottke was the only guy that didnt. Calzaghe pulled out of at least three fights with Johnson...As far as Reid..Many thought that he too was robbed vs Calzaghe let us not forget that.:thumbsup

One of my sports ringside email contacts reminded me that Joe hand injury problems at the time, and Glen changed weights

I am well aware of the past! My boxing knowledge is a hell of a lot better than average. Ok so can you find an article where DM, Jones or Tarver called Joe out?

Calzaghe did NOT pull out of 3 fights with Johnson...that shows how little you know. He pulled out of 1 with an injured back. He was supposed to move up and fight Johnson but then Johnson lost the 3rd fight to Woods which ruined that chance.

Calzaghe / Jones was only ever seriously discussed after Roy beat Tito...byt hat stage Joe had signed to fight Hopkins. Tarver was discussed as an opponent until he lost to Hopkins. It's failry simple if you know your history which you clearly don't.

As for the Reid fight, it was in Newcastle in front of a heavy pro Reid crowd, which expains why the crowd were shouting for Robin. I have the fight on dvd and have watched it a few times..anyone who says Reid one needs their eyes tested. Joe got caught by a lot of staight rights but Robin wasn't busy enough to win.

As I stated no point in talking about this with you.....WARREN is the one that said that Jones Offered Calzaghe a fight. Thus the famous Joe dont fight for peanuts which was a phase that was thrown around on this site alot a few years back.

I read Warren's site often and i've never heard him say that. The internet's a big place, im sure you can find a reference to it if it's true...

That leaves DM and Tarver...where are your references here? The only time a Tarver fight was talked about was before he fought Hopkins..then he lost, end of fight. DM never called out Joe so i'm pretty sure you'll have a tough time finding something to back that up!

Joe has never backed down from a fight, he's proved that by taking two huge fights where he was an underdog. Now he's going to the statesa nd fighting Hopkins in his backyard since Hopkins wouldn't go to Wales. Joe can sell 50,000 tickets in Wales and yet he is still going to Vegas to fight Hopkins as it's the only way to get him in the ring.

Some people will never give him credit though, which is sad and petty.
