It appears that HBO must have signed Larry Merchant to an extended contract.
Their thoughts must be, that there is no else available.
Larry has graduated though, from Smirnoff (red) to Smirnoff (blue).

 

I don't want to imagin him on the black one (50 degrees)

 

i watched both and the showtime team you can tell actually enjoy boxing the HBO team is so jaded and biased you can just see it RJJ was the only one who seemed like he was having a good time

I agree. WTF was that about? This was Khan's biggest win and there should be zero bias from the commentators, but obviously and sadly there is. It was a time for Khan to say who he would like to fight next and the fans really wanted to hear what he had to say. Merchant used to be one of my favs, but he is slipping bad. If this continues I hate to say this, but he needs to be either disciplined one way or another by his bosses or get replaced. RJ is always great and Lampley brings excitement to the fights. I'd prefer Lampley or RJ doing the interviews I was highly disappointed after that move.

 

What did Merchant say to Katsidis? I don't remember.

 

He only asked Maidana two questions aswell before Maidana ****ed off. But yeah, **** move. They should have spent more time interviewing as a whole.

 

hbo thought maidana was robbed , clearly u can tell by the question he asked maidana.

 

Because Khan beating Maidana who is essentially a top ten contender is what a so called champion should be capable of doing. Only British fans think this was FOTY stuff. Like he said earlier in the broadcast, the British thought Khan's win over Malinaggi was some dramatic event. Whereas US media understood it to be what it was. A win over a top 20 jr welter who has only ever won, one significant fight. And that was over a lightweight.

I'm not 100% Proof, but I'm sure Larry knows the Proof ratings.

If you listen to his old commentary speaches, you can see how far this man has fallen.
His search for the perfect right phrase has a lack of honesty or truthfullness.
He does not respond to the action. He's like a pre-recorded version of himself.
