I liked Larry Merchant, but now he can seriously croak for all I care.

Well, I to was quite disappointed with the lack of attention Amir Khan received after his gutsy performance. So I took it upon myself to invite Amir to discuss the fight on this weeks episode of ON THE ROPES. Be sure to tune in! :good

The reason Larry rushed to interview Maidana was because Marcos was already threatening to leave the ring right after the decision was announced, and only his promoter prevailed upon him to accommodate the post-fight talk.

Who the **** cares how many questions were asked or how much post-fight talk time Khan got?

What Merchant did to Katisidis is FAR worse.

Both fights went a full 12 rounds (and weren't expected to).

The broadcast ran over its allotted time slot.

Of course they rushed the interviews.

If anything it's HBO's fault for not scheduling in an extra cushion to allow for both fights possibly going the distance.

Merchant has producers talking in his ear and isn't in charge of production decisions.

He's an ******* for bungling the Katsidis interview, which is 100% on him. Khan not getting time to talk is nobody's fault except maybe that of the production team at HBO for not thinking of a 24-round contingency.

You people are ****ing dolts sometimes.

Merchant is often a dick, but I don't think he was trying to be one to Katsidis. I think he was trying to do a "he would be proud of you" moment but didn't want to seem overly sentimental by saying it, and asked Katsidis it instead, which turned out just awkward and naturally, Michael got emotional.

Also, the old drunk was giving the thumbs down to Lou Dibella, not Litzau.

What a horrible person you are for wishing a man to die because of a post fight interview, it's not even funny. Khan needed to rest his body after the brutal battle whaat is your problem/

You'd have more success if you email HBO and pointing them to this thread. Then again the idiotic thread title will probably make them ignore it

This. You guys should all try interviewing a fighter while being old and drunk and see how easy it is for you to find the perfect things to say.
