He caved in and didn't wear the approved red everlast gloves. I heard a rumor that Floyd paid him which would seem likely. Why else would he not wear them?? Not saying it would have guaranteed a win but when you change an athletes equipment, you are messing with his psyche. Professional athletes are extremely picky about their gear. Can you imagine if Floyd had to change his gloves right before a fight? It's possible his hands wouldn't make it through the fight.
I think Floyds a great fighter but it was a shitty move but he can get away with it can't he? Maidana wasnt about the throw away 2 million whatever it was and a chance to get in the ring with floyd over a pair of gloves he is a fighter and a family man that money will set his daughter up for life he thought screw you pick my gloves then
Mayweather just trying to get what little extra advantage he could doesn't look good but I suppose he was just trying to upset maidana anyway he could
if that's the best analogy you can come up with then you should go back to school and try to get some education.
This is very well put by DDF and good education in "The History of Boxing" for me. Thanks for posting, @papadoc28. P34c3 ...
He also gladly paid Marquez $300,000 when he weighed in extra for their fight in 2009. JMM took the money gladly. Why? Because it was probably in cash and given to just the fighter and not his management.
