Tunney went at least even in 5 fight series with Harry Greb.
That's the same Harry Greb that people say Dempsey should have been fighting.
Also, Tunney's KO win over Gibbons has to count for something.

Well, I guess if you take fights slightly above the lhw limit as hw bouts he beat Delaney, Geb (1 time), Jeff Smith as hw bouts too. Do you? Yes, he beat Gibbons, Risko and Dempsey 2 times. Enough to be ranked above Dempsey at hw? Sorry, I don´t see it.

I rank Peter McNeely over Butterbean

I rank Holy over Tyson and Bowe.

I don't rank him over Dempsey.
I just think it's odd that Dempsey gets ripped for not fighting Greb, but Tunney "did almost nothing at hw".

Greb weighs well within 175 pounds if he ever fights Dempsey anyway, 165 probably, so why does Tunney have to be over 175 to make it a good scalp for heavyweight ?

You´re talking to the wrong person here. I never ripped Dempsey for not fighting Greb. I rarely hold a fighter not fighting another fighter against him, only when it´s a blatant duck which Dempsey-Greb cvertainly wasn´t.

    fair enough. :good
I guess my point was, a 165 pound Harry Greb should be considered a heavyweight contender.

Well, you could argue that he did more than Tunney, outside of winning the title of course, despite weighing less. Which is very impressive.
